Jaysus lol that's crazy just buy a 1080Ti already
Trust me.. i thought about it. But i have a freesync monitor. If anyone made a 32" 4K VA Gsync monitor I would totally switch over to nvidia

I have the same monitor, there are no Gsync monitors of the size and resolution I wanted either. However most of these "Freesync" monitors don't even have LFC or cover a suitable HZ range so it probably doesn't even matter... I'm almost certain to switch monitors next year if 4K/HDR/120HZ is available or possibly 3820 x 1600 21:9 but it's gotta be a 36" or larger display.
I have the LG 32UD59-B and I really love it. The freesync range is 40-60hz but i used the CRU to expand it to 34-62 No LFC but a Vega 64 card should be able to keep in that range with most of the detail turned up.
Most of those upcoming 4K/HDR/120Hz displays seem to be 27" and IPS. 27inch is too small for 4K and I don't care of IPS displays and the glow that comes with it... Hopefully by the end of '18 there will be more options...
Yea the games I play all stay well over 50 fps with my current setup, Vulkan games with everything cranked up even. It is beautiful, I don't really see the horrible gaming experience a lot of people complain about with "only" 60HZ as it's plenty playable and fun for me, but I avoid 1080p and fast twitch shooters online so I'm good. I'd rather have the resolution and quality settings UP.
I've had a few people claim that they've rectified their black screen issues by locking the HBM to a certain state or speed with Wattman. I'd be up to trying that on my X370 computer that is giving me trouble but the fact that it doesn't occur on the B350 (with the same card) doesn't really make sense. At this point, I'd be willing to at least try it out; if it doesn't work I'm none the wiser.
Okay Vega builders. Help me out.
I just bit the bullet and bought a Vega Frontier Edition off NewEgg since they got some back in stock. $749 + tax for where I live. Considering it launched at $999 I'm not too upset with the price. And I am not holding out much hope for a 12nm Vega refresh this year after AMD showed their CPU + GPU roadmaps.
I need a new monitor for this card. My current monitor is an old hp 2035 that does not even have HDMI or Displayport inputs. As much as I enjoy using this thing, it simply will not do to run 1600x1200 on a Vega by way of some kludgey adapter. Even my current R9 390 is overkill for this monitor.
I had hoped that 1440p 144hz Freesync 2 monitors would be available by now; sadly it seems only Samsung has delivered, and I have read bad things about the CHG70. I have also considered going with a 60hz 4k monitor, but I do enjoy playing Dirty Bomb, which is one of the twitchiest FPSes out there. Being able to run it at 144hz instead of the 60hz I get right now would be a bonus.
So, I am open to suggestions. I have been looking at 1440p 144mhz 1ms Freesync monitors for awhile, and everything I find seems to have something potentially a little wrong with it. Many people have complained about the infamous "Freesync flicker". I would like to be able to avoid that.
In fact, I just want to avoid everything that's wrong with the Samsung CHG70. Blurry, costs a lot, and flicker. Bleh. If it is too much of a hassle to find a decent 144hz 1440p monitor, I'll just go with 4k 60hz Freesync, which seems to be easier to come by without too many issues.
edit: btw I am cool with "smaller" 27" monitors, since my hp 2035 isn't that big and that's never been a problem for me.
edit edit: seriously looking at AOC AG271QX. Any reason why I should not pull the trigger on that monitor?

Have you tried both 4k@60Hz and 1440p@144Hz with variable reresh rate? You might find that FreeSync makes 60Hz much less noticable....I have also considered going with a 60hz 4k monitor, but I do enjoy playing Dirty Bomb, which is one of the twitchiest FPSes out there. You looking for IPS or VA monitors? I am pretty sure that LG makes some IPS 1440p high refresh monitors. Also the AOC you mentioned I think has pretty decent reviews.
Also, what do you think about the Vega Frontier Edition so far? I have had it in my cart on Newegg several times but haven't pulled the trigger. I am especially interested in the noise level of the fan? I prefer a quieter system so I don't like a jet engine of a fan going under full load while gaming... Thanks!

I love it. But it took a little prodding to get the driver installed. Make sure to uninstall all drivers through Windows before you install it. Then reboot. Then use the AMD driver uninstaller utility. Then reboot. Then install the pro driver as a custom install and say you want to load additional drivers (this is only possible if it's on Windows 10).Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Frontier Edition from newegg as well. Hopefully gaming mode of the driver will go smoothly as it can't be returned... Will report back as well how things go.
FYI, it took me six tries to get it installed properly.
I only have an old HD 7950 card that I'm going to put in an old FX-8150 system. I don't think a card that old is compatible with a Vega is it?Have you tried running a Vega FE in the same box as a consumer card, like an R9 390?

After the driver completes loading. Reboot. Then after startup, go to driver options in the driver window. Then click search for drivers, and pick install the 17.12 version. DO NOT CLICK INSTALL AND SWITCH DRIVERS!!

I just wanted to brace you that the install has some hiccups and it's no reason for panic. After Linus's video about Vega FE, many (myself included) may have some negative bias toward the card.Quite the list! I will keep that in mind. I am currently using a R9 Fury card so hopefully the upgrade will go smoothly. I will make sure to clean all the old drivers. Where can I find the AMD driver uninstaller utility? Thanks!
