Hey, I was wondering

Does anyone prefer either of these?
I see a lot of OCing talked about with the Athlons

Which is better?
Or what are their strengths and weaknesses?

Their speeds / prices?
anyone have insight on this

thanks

I can see a flame thread now lol. Well I have always liked Intel hence my name. But seriously with the curren't expense of Athlons and P4's I would just go for a top end P4. Personally I would rather overclock with a Intel Chip than a Athlon but that is just me. Intel hasn't failed me yet so why change?

think people lean towards the AMD chips cause of the unlocked multiplier and the scalabitly through FSB on nice boards

At this point I think they are pretty much dead even. I like AMD because they can be paired with nforce mobos which are super stable.

I don't have anything against Intel, but I've always bought AMD, so I figure why bother switching. Like someone said earlier, the latest chips by both are pretty much dead even in price and preformance.

I think this forum needs to automatically scan for the words "amd" and "intel" in the same sentance and delete those threads .. LOL ..

But really, I prefer amd because I like there boards better, and Ive been with amd so long and had no negetive experiences while everyone I knwo with intel runs into problems. But who knows, I might just be lucky :Q

Wierd, people ask because they want to know.
And they are the most popular so obviously there will be curiosity with those who want to know thier differences

Please for the love of Bob, use the search function.
Well, I did and I found nothing

Also, I read that AMD's were faster at math problems, and better for gaming.

I was just curious I thought there were performance differences.

Also what amd = intel
(example) like amd 2700+ = p4 3.0 ??

Read the last few cpu reviews at Anandtech...

A 2700+ will be more equal to 2.66-2.8ghz...for the most part amd's pr rating is operating quite close to actual p4 speeds, as per reviews....

The amd barton pr rating was skewed a bit more and in return the 3000+barton is not much better then the 2800+ Tbred which is slower then the p4 3.06 HT cpu as it stands...

Fastest cpu available is INtel, and that shouldbe undisputed as all major reviews will agree with that...that ofcourse is across the board of uses....

Best bang for the buck is AMD and the 1700+ tbreds to 2100+ tbreds...

Bect ocing chips is rerally a tossup.....many are getting high ocs on those very chip 1700+ tbreds but you can't ignore many hitting 3.4 to 3.5ghz at default vcore with the 2.53 mvid chips either...
