From The Inquirer

AMD CAUSED something of a ruckus last night by winning the Computer Trade Show award for Best CPU Manufacturer at a shindig sponsored by Intel.
Awards, presented by Intel, were given out throughout the night. However, the Intel lady left the AMD award until last, and walked off the stage rather than present it personally to a jubilant set of chaps.

We got some blurry 3am bar-room photos of the award itself, which AMD were said to be delighted with. There's a nice big 'Sponsored by Intel' logo in the corner. How wonderfully ironic.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

What did Intel expect??? Prescott is a heater and petered out less then 400mhz from the northwood 130nm chip, they cancelled the Tejas plans, thet came late to the dance with a 64bit chip, and they showed off a dual core chip that is merely a slamming of two precott chips together and then starving it of bandwidth by sharing the bus....Oh yeah I see where they desrved it!!! (sarcasm)

I would give them an ward for their mobile chips of the dothan core but that is about it....

I'm sorry, are you just sore that AMD has serious potential to put the hurt on the company that signs your paychecks? Flame elsewhere

Serious potential to hurt intel? You've gotta be kidding.

In any case, everything that duvie guy said is inconsequential, and this "award" is also a non-story.

Oh, so Prescott being a big waste of power as far as performance/$ is concerned and them having to scrap it much earlier than expected is inconsequential? So A64's beating the pants off P4's in most situations is inconsequential? The only thing good Intel has had in a while is the Pentium M.
I'm not an AMD fanboy, but Intel's latest products (minus the P-M) have sucked. And some ninny wanna-be "cool guy" who works for Intel coming in and calling someone an idiot just pushes my buttons. Go back to designing toasters slick, that is if you ARE an engineer and not just the pimple-faced mailroom clerk
Thx

So many buttons, I gotta press them all.

What really matters is the fact that amd still cannot gain big chunks of the desktop marketspace, where it has a superior product for a significant set of workloads.

By the way laptop boy, you can't design a toaster even if you wanted to. LOL!

Eh, digital and analog design is really interesting (working on an OpAmp analog design project right now), but my true talent lies on the business side of the technical industry I'm thinking MBA!

I live across the street from Intel in Aloha, and you're still a moron.... Duvie speaks the truth, and he live right here too !

And I don't need a job, I make over 75k a year NOT working for Intel.

And the Opteron is ?? Beat The Xeon in many tasks, and is is workstation. If you are talking about the P4 vs the Athlon64, aside from 2 high cpu intensive tasks where HT helps, it beats the P4 in everything. You really need to stop spewing crap, but read FACTS. You don't see Wingznut spewing crap like this, and he's an Intel employee who has been here for years, and most of us respect what he has to say.

HAHA, everyone living in portland and surroundings are experts because they live close to intel. yep!!!!

And I don't need a job, I make over 75k a year NOT working for Intel.

Well, I wasn't talking to you, but sure, we care about your salary because?

And the Opteron is ??

something else entirely, it belongs in the server space. i have not mentioned server in this entire thread.

aside from 2 high cpu intensive tasks where HT helps, it beats the P4 in everything.

a/v encoding/decoding? i said the p4 is better in certain workloads, not all workloads. duh!!!!!!!!!

look in the mirror bud. did my assertion that intel's desktop products aren't crap trigger some kind of pavlovian response? pretty common reaction around here. LOL!
