You're right of course, you need to use scientific units. 52C is 125.6F, while 59C is 138.2F, so it's really only 10% warmer.

What FX CPU do you have ?? Only the 125W TDP CPUs have the D3 cooler.

It's just good AMD is starting to work on the potential pitfalls Zen may face now.

Really wish they'd use better angles or at least flat out show that it doesn't obstruct the RAM slots if you were to use a kit with high raised fins.

Even that Corsair set, which isn't very tall, almost looks like it wouldn't fit, but of course the camera never goes far enough to show the clearance.

EDIT:

This image shows it will probably be fine with higher finned memory, but that's super tight for my liking.

It seems to me that they've opted to use a cooler that can do the same job as its predecessor was meant to do (ie. the same or very similar demands), just more quietly (ie. increase the size of the heatsink and use a more appropriate fan). While that's better than a kick in the teeth, Intel's stock HSFs have been getting steadily smaller and quieter for some time.

A10-7870K comes with the D3 cooler and its only a 95W TDP CPU.

Zen might be fast enough to compete, but then a higher TDP could knock it back...

IIRC, Zen has not any plan of releasing SKUs which is more than 95w TDP, yet.
