AMD X2 or not

So I would better having the fastest CPU with a single core at the same price, from what I can see I can get a 3800+ for the same price as an X2 3800+. And from what I read for a single task the X2 3800 would perform the same as a 3200+ for a single tasks.

The X2's are usually faster then single core A64's that are clocked 200Mhz faster. The X2 4800+ at 2.4Ghz usually beats the FX-55 at 2.6Ghz in gaming. The reason for this is because you have two cores to divide up all the workload so nothing is stealing CPU cycles in the background. You will be much better off with the X2 3800+.

I'll tell you one thing, I sure know that my Dell P4 (2.6 ghz 270) SUCKS at multitasking. You would not believe how bad it was today, and I was only at 502m memory out of 512 !

Get the X2.....Just make sure you have at least a gig of memory.
