I found this by going through Pricewatch and it appears to be legit, however I have not done the deal.

System is from EconoPC, but if you go directly to the EconoPC web site and find this machine, you don't get the price noted above. To get the price, go to Pricewatch select PC Kits, then "Bare Bones Athlon XP 1800", then click "Buy Online" for one of the EconoPC systems. Once you have made it to the EconoPC site slect "Bare bone Systems".

This seems to work for Accubyte systems also (same company???).

One final note: Shipping looks to be very very high.

There is something really bogus about this. CPU/Fan/heatsink would alone be $100, mB is about $50, and case at least $30. So I see a minimum of $180. You better check this econoPC before you order anything from them. PriceWatch is full of bogus parasites that are sending DOA crap and then charging restocking fee upon return.

Shipping starts at $40 for this unit.

If you look down the list of the search, you'll see an offerring from MGE. Their shipping looks a tad lower. Of course all the shipping varies.

Well, how about you buy this system from TCWO.com, and then use your AMEX blue to PM this site. Since AMEX don't look at shipping costs, you will only spending 6.95 on shipping then.

And TCWO is definitely more secure place to buy from. Though they too have poor rating from BBB and I would avoid to buy anything from them except AMD chips.
EconoPC has 5.2 rating from resellererratings and that is bad. Be carefull.
ECS MB is, beside Biostar, the lowest quality motherboard around. OK for budget computer.

This one smells way too fishy to be trustworthy. I'm currently looking for an AMD1800+ with fan and an ESC K7s5a and even from vendors residing in the dregs of Reseller Ratings the price is in the $140 range. To get the combo from a more reputable vendor like TCWO or Newegg it's more like $160-170. Now this place is tossing in a case and power supply for around $40 LESS? Nope, that crosses the line from "hot deal" to "scam". And you're probably not going to be able to PM this with a reputable vendor since they don't sell the exact same system. It'd be easy if it was just CPU/fan/motherboard, but the addition of the case and PSU will throw off the PM.

I've bought a couple cpu's and and cpu/motherboard combo from Econopc both cpu's worked fine. With the combo I didn't get the fan seated well and burned the cpu. I called and told them the cpu was doa. They told me they tested all cpu before shipping, but they took it back (I had to pay shipping). It took 2 to 2 1/2 weeks but they sent me a new one. I had to return the whole combo, when they replaced it, the cpu and fan were preinstalled. As for shipping I have always had to pay the highest price quoted on pricewatch.

You may want to try americancomputech they seem cheaper on shipping. A friend got a Anthlon XP 2100 from them and has no complaints...

Econopc barebones K7S5A

The deal seems to be listed on the site... They also have a similiar deal with a PCChips mobo, though the ECS is probably a better buy.

For the person above who complained about the quality of the ECS board: i have this board, and it has been more stable and trouble free than most of the boards I have. More stable than the Soyo i815 wPIII 733 I had. (with the same peripherals) I can definitely recommend this as a decent board. Don't expect any overclocking options though.
