Did you have to pay tax? If not then it's not so bad. Even for many people getting it local will still cost about $10 extra for tax and gas to get there.

Yes it will help if tax was not charged on out of state purchase. I am in Indiana and if there was no tax charged and I can save on gas and the trouble of driving I can as well pay that extra 15$ on shipping.

Anyone in the Southern Bay Area with a V8 board (2DIMM) wanna trade for a V5 board (3DIMM). Need one with a smaller PCB.

Picked it up at the Palo Alto store today. ECS advertises the new V.8 board as overclockable. They even have this overclock symbol on the box of the MB. There was a surprised at Fry's today though. The Palo Alto store charges less for any previously returned boards. You know the ones with the "Quality" sticker on them. PA charges a whole $2 less.

I don't think we'll see anymore K7S5A combo's from Fry's. The Palo Alto store is clearing them all out for $29. I don't know why they just didn't try to get rid of them all as part of a Combo. The V.5 boards are now priced at $39 as opposed to the V.8 for $54.99.

The chip's color is pinkish.

AIXHB. that has got to be the best ones yet for tbreds. its a "B" core. "A" which means its in the center of the wafer which means it has best o/c opportunity. its an "X" rather than an "U" which makes it newer. too bad its a DUT rather than a DLT. but still AIXHB is better than AIUHB, JIUHB, NIUHB, KIUHB, etc...

overclockers.com and its forums are a good source of info on steppings and most anything else. search using google or whatever.

that steppings not the super overclocking one, i forget how far that one goes, maybe 2ghz?

most everyone is getting AQXEA, the AQZFA is better. andthis is the thorton, so i believe it will start with AQ***.

Just walked out of Fry's in SoCal. They have:

XP2600 + Abit KD7a = 149.99
P4 2.4 533 + ECS L4VXA2 = 149.99
XP2200 + ECS K7VTA3 = 79.99

The CPU's seem like a good price but is the ABIT the only decent board? Trying to decide which one to buy. I guess I should mention that I'll take orders next time I come to Fry's, in about a week.

I just got v.8 of this MB. Right on the box it says it supports voltage mods for overclocking? How do you do it though? There's nothing in the BIOS.
