Yesterday while priming for 14 hours, i realized my proccesor was hitting the 56 degree mark. of course, my personal safetly threshhold was breached (originally, i would never want my CPU to go over 50 degrees on load). Are these temperatures normal/safe? I know AMD states that the max a AMD64 should hit is 70 degrees, but i just dont like being in the 50's on load.

airflow is fine, my case is clean and cables are all tied up,it only jumps to 50-55 when im priming or doing some intense stuff. HSF im using right now is the stock AMD cooler.

For stock speeds, and given that you've installed it all correct & didn't mess things up afterwards, then it is a little hot, though its nothing to worry about. Is the room the system is in cooled? Maybe you have some peripherials which generate heat?

Get a better CPU cooler or lower Vcore. It's okay to see 55C if your room temp is above 80F.

idle temps are 30-32, I'm thinking of getting 2 120mm fans up in the front to see if that help the airflow if it really is. I just realized i have no intake fans, as all of them are exhaust

It could be your motherboard misrepresenting the temps. I've tried two identical boards with my xp 3200 and the idle temps are always > 50C. I know the HSF is securely mounted and the base of the HSF is cool to the touch.

Depends where you are in the world - if you're in northern hemisphere and it's winter, then you shouldn't be getting that hot, and I'd be worried about the summer temperatures - those figures by themselves are alright though. Also, Prime can make a CPU run much hotter than it would on normal loads, so it may not be too bad after all.

That is not possible unless your ambient temperature is very low or you have some other cooling. Or maybe you under clocked it. My guess is your have a pretty low ambient temperature.
For a stock AMD 3200+ under full load it would probably be around 50 - 55 C.
At idel probably from 30 - 35 C.
My Zalman which I put in today is doing 46 C / 114 F at full load and the MB temperature is 33 C / 91 F. The antec P160 temp sensors read ~86 F for ambient temperature in the case.
I am burning in the heatsink right now so it might drop 2-6 C later on when I finish burning it in.

Does a 3200+ really run that hot?
Trikat, what is your ambient temp usually given those temp readings?

I have an Opteron 144, and with the stock HSF it runs at 29-31 Idle and 42-44 Load.

After putting on an Arctic Cooler Freezer 64 Pro, the Load temps dropped to 37-40.
My ambient (this is room temp right?) is 19-21 C depending on the weather.

Oh and my case is an Antec Performance Plus 1080AMG, with 5 x 80mm fans (3 intake, 2 exhaust).
