AMD64 3500+, No Longer @ Newegg!

I RMA'ed my processor and mobo (was having some problems I couldn't figure out, and something was going wrong with either of these two core components). My original RMA was set up as an exchange, not a refund. But I check online on Friday night and they refunded my money, instead of exchanging the parts...

I called this morning and they said they didn't know when they would get anymore AMD64 3500+ processors, so they refunded my money instead.

So right now, I have a case, memory, hard drives, DVD/CD burners, video card, sound card, and ...yah.

But no processor and motherboard! Turns out Newegg stopped selling the 3500+ processors.

Does anybody have any ideas as to why Newegg stopped carrying all but one AMD64 939 socket processor? The only other 939 they carry is the 3800+, which is way out of my budget...

Does anybody have any suggestions as far as what other processor/motherboard would be a good buy? I wanted a 939 processor simply because of the fact that the processor has two pipes to the memory (i.e., twice the memory throughput). Whatever motherboard I do get now, it has to support DDR3200.

Ideas/thoughts appreciated.

AMD recently changed their inventory control system at the international level, so that could be why.

if its not on the website under "eta" time that means ti will be out of stock for 2 or more weeks. I doubt they would stop carring them since they are selling pretty dang well

Sorry guys, I'm definately not trying to sound rude here when I say this (not my intention), but I think some of you are not understanding what I'm saying or have not checked.

The processor was "out of stock" this morning when I checked.

When I searched for it on Newegg this evening, it didn't show up at *all*...it's like, the processor disappeared.

I don't know if this is standard Newegg proceedure for any product when it's in such high demand (i.e., take it off the site so that people stop requesting in-stock notifications); but from what I can tell, it's almost as if though Newegg never sold it and never has the intention of selling it again...

Yah, the processor is definately a hot item; I'm kind of wishing I had ordered another one in advance.

It's been like that for the last week or two...one minute it's on their site OOS, the next it doesn't show up at all. On Friday they had 5 in stock, then it was gone completely.

seems like they're unable to confirm when next shipment will be delivered. Hence the withdrawal from the page. Just a guess...

I would guess that AMD is starting to put out the 90nm 939's which is why they starting to be out of stock as the new chips should be comming ot market soon... Hopfully you can find one of those soon as they have some added performance than the older .13u ones

eLinux - Yes, it is standard procedure for Newegg to have items go from "out of stock, ETA mm/dd/yy" to completely off the list, only to show back up when stock returns. I have tracked items at Newegg that go through that, most recently the 6800 GT video card. The 3500+ will show back up as soon as Newegg gets some. Personally, I like their practice better than etailers that list an item with an ETA, then keep changing the ETA when the date arrives and no stock is available.

I've seen worse price gouging (especially with the latest high-end video cards) but it is bad. AMD's price for 3500+ was still $346 in quantity of 1000 last time I checked. I guess you can't blame the etailers for balancing supply and demand by raising prices, but it stinks for the consumers. Hopefully this is a glitch that will pass soon - due to the AMD inventory system change or whatever.

Ok, that's a reasonable price actually. Where'd you get it and is that the OEM or retail?

Yah...$30 is fine.

But the price is almost $100 more. That's a bit much. It is quite ridiculous...two weeks ago the price was $100 cheaper. I'm sure the demand will drop significantly if the price stays up there. I doubt someone would pay that much for that processor.

That sure sucks though. Hopefully newegg will lower the price soon. Otherwise hold on untill .09 parts hit the market. I would believe a .09 3500+ would be the best bet. Hopefully people would be able to get it to 2.8 GHz aircooled aswell
