Running a retail newcastle 3500+ (skt 939) with stock cooling...temperaure is 46-48 deg when doing light tasks(49 deg now) and reaches 54deg when i play, is it ok or should i think of changing my cooler?

it's in deg celscius...well thanks a lot guys..somewhat relieved...also my casing have a fan on the left panel and the fan is directly over cpu fan and blows on it..

i've got mine running at 35 idle and just over 40 at load. but i'm also using arctic silver 5 and a thermaltake heatsink/fan.

I was surprised today when I looked an saw the Zalman 7000(I think thats it) keeps my 3200 Clawhammer at 33 C. This of course changes with room temp. But room temp is cool, not too cool. Pretty impressive for a heatsink+fan that quiet(AS5 too of course)

Those are the temperatures I had when I was using the retail HSF. Those are perfectly normal temperatures and well within the safe zone.

I think that is one of the differences between the Winchester and Newcastle. My winchester idles at 33-35c

forgot to mention that room temp is around 28-32 deg cel. it's summer here..

OMG!!!!!THOSE TEMPS ARE HIGH COMPARED TO MINE ATLEAST. Im gettin aorudn 29C on idel and 33-36 on Full load. Well i do have a cm stacker case, extreamly well air flow buh im still using the stock hsf from amd. It's still a 90nm whiich may reduce temps by a few degrees. Buh i have never gotten temps over 37C in last 6 weeks. oh and it's even overclocked from 2..2ghz to 2.4 ghz,

I'm getting almost the exact same temps as calvinHobbs with my Zalman CNPS7000-alcu and AS5. However, the fan is at the super quiet mode.

at first I was going to say you might be ok now but summer was iffy..but I see your in summer.

I got the 3200+ with stock hsf nice big case with lots of fans. warm in the room right now am running cpu about 37 C gaming maybe 45-48 C
sytem is about 30 C under light load maybe 37-38 heavy at the most.

I have another comp thats been running at your temps for about a year though..its been fine its just that I got so much hardware crammed into a tiny atx case..I'm betting if I get a nice big case It will drop down also.:thumbsup:

At what temps do you start getting into the danger zone?

For the OPs processor and mine a 3000+

Actually, what would be really helpful would be a chart for AMD processors showing Typical Idle Temp Range, Full Load Temps, and Danger Zone temps.

Anyone know of one, or can put one together? That'd be awesome.

I have a 3500 and with everything stock, mine idles at around 25 celcius

I have an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ (1.47 GHz) OC'ed to 1.833 GHz and it's running at 35.7 deg Celscius right now....and I've had it on ALL day playing games like UT2004 and Doom 3...as well as burning DVDz. The most it gets is 40 - 42 Celscius. And even I'm running well within range...so yer doin just fine man.

I see this thread has turned into a "my CPU is cooler than yours". Grow up people, he just wanted to know if his temps were ok.

I should have my 3500+ by Friday. I'm still trying to decide if I should use the stock HSF or go with an aftermarket right away. Maybe just AS5 instead of the TIM that comes with the retail HS.

The stock HSF is fine unless you plan to OC to the absolute thermal limit.

right now it's 50 deg cel...funny thing is that the sytem temp is being reported to be 19deg cel by corecell...

Yes, but he is asking for input on whether he should change his cooler. By getting comparisons by other members, he is able to determine whether or not his cooling is sufficient. I think you are the one that should grow up
