People have so many different types of cases, heatsinks and fans, that you will never get anything resembling a decent baseline. You may want to just ask those who have the factory heatsink and fan to post their temps, unless you have a different type of heatsink/fan, then you should ask for results from people who have that setup.

BTW: I have a 3000+ (not OC'd) with retail heatsink/fan running at 39C under normal conditions, and running at 55C full load (prime95 torture test). I used Arctic Silver 3 as the thermal paste. I have one intake fan and one exhaust fan, and the case temp is steady at 38C. I do run AC at home, and the normal temps are between 76 and 78 degrees most of the year.

Agreed totally, there are just too many variables to consider as Bocamojo said, that a poll would not accurately reflect the "real" baseline of the idle or load temperature.

Systems running in Fairbanks Alaska, would have a quite different temperature signatures compared to systems running in a non airconditioned room in Mumbai India, for example.

Then, these systems probably use different cases, number of internal components, etc.

i.e. my system, when the ambient temperature is 13 degree Celcius, the idle temp. is 32 deg., while load temp is 42, but all these will change when the ambient temp. reaches 40 degree C.

Dude, this was just a casual, informal poll. It wasn't meant to determine a baseline, I was just curious about the range of temperatures that people were getting.

Yep. The Newcastles is all over the place. With an Abit AV8 my 3800 can be as low as 29C at idle and as high as 49C after an hour of CS:S and this is stock with an XP90. I don't believe the temps but I did give it the touch test and the HS and socket are just slightly warm. I'm not sure what the real temp is but it's not bad.

Doesn't look like you'll be overclocking anytime soon.

My 3200+ 90NM runs 25/26C at idle, and the highest I hve ever seen it was 34C after a long long time at 100%.

My winchester 3000+ runs 14-18c idle. I use a huge fan and all, but I'm not sure if the reading is accurate.

Hey,
I don't know about this fan and temp controller but it stays at about 84 degrees farinhight? (spelling sucks)

Is there a way to check the temp using the bios or something else?

The controller manufacturer is sending me a manual on how to program this thing.

Thanks
Cowboy

You guys got some low temps. My A64 3000 newcastle oc to 2.35 idles at 38-39 and at full load is 48-49. And that's with a xp-90 w/ AS5.

edit: I know this a non-oc poll but I figured I'd share anyways.

Winchesters run a LOT cooler than Clawhammers and Newcastles.

This should be an aircooled only poll, I think those that say their A64's are running 25° all the time are using phase change, peltier, or water cooling. It's not really an apples to apples compairison.

True..
I presume my 25°C is thanks to Cool'n'Quiet..

for k8n neo2 users, upgrade your bios and then check your temps with latest version of CoreCenter

Thanks,
Glad I could get a chuckle out of my speeling

After being on for about 24 hours I get 27 degrees for the CPU Core in the BIOS?

Is that good?

Cheers
