Not sure what to make of the article given this rather glaringly wrong statement:


TSMC is not shipping 5,000 28nm wafers per month this quarter.

So what else is completely wrong in the article?

Are you sure about that IDC . I read elsewere that is a true statement. I don't know . But I did read it . I believe it was at XS forums not real sure.

they have 28nm test structures etc that is for sure, why you would measure wafer per month on test strucutres etc i dont know.

Doesn't that just mean that , by the end of the quarter, they will be producing 91/day, rather than that they will have actually produced 5000 wafers?

Yeah, I don't know where they got that. I think might have been a misunderstanding from the approx 5,000 or so wafers of 28nm fpgas that tsmc is in the process of shipping (i believe actually they shipped some of them at end of 2010)...however, that stuff is LP 28nm not the stuff for gpus. AFAIK
