Kinda makes sense . Robert said that BD is weaK . and the bobcats certainly aren't gamers on netbooks . Not at the very low FPS shown on released products . The prerelease previews were a sham.

My thoughts are this is beacuse of the sandy bridge release and the numbers it is posting. BD i dont think will be able to compete, AMD has realized they dropped the ball on this one and want to make some changes.

I really don't want it to happen, but it sounds like Phenom I all over again. Not sure why AMD always wants a new chip on a new process....it didn't work well last time either. We will see.

Considering everything that happened while Hector was CEO and yet he didn't step down at any of those specific events I would be quite puzzled if Dirk stepped down so soon and over something as minor (relative to Hector's legacy) as BD not being an uber processor.

Am i the only one who is shocked we haven't seen any leaked benchmarks from BD ES samples? When SB was in ES there were leaks everywhere but with BD not a peep. You would think if it crushes SB people would want to share that info. Do i smell a flop on Amd's hands? Maybe SB is like a Falcon Punch to Amd

Interesting take, considering the activity in the stock following upgrades today.

I'm not aware of CEO's losing their jobs after the reports are that things are beginning to look up.

Or maybe the forth quarter of 2010 was a disaster. When do they report?

Maybe the rumor sent the stock up.

If BD is really a flop, we might not even see Ivy Bridge in Q4 2011. Intel can easily postpone it until Q1/Q2 2012 and still be on top of the hill.

If BD is a flop, I'll be very worried about the survival of AMD, at least in their current form. And you can bet Intel will take full advantage of the consumer if BD fails to offer up good competition.

Let's hope KitGuru is wrong. At least, I guess. Would a new CEO give AMD wings? RedBullCEO!

The FTC would certainly block this. However Apple, IBM, HP, etc. Certainly could. I suppose NVIDIA could as well, but I think they have made it clear that x86 is dead to them.

No nv can't buy . It would make NV a monoply in discrete market

I must add that although timing is suspicious, this may not have anything to do with SB or BD. Who knows whats going in those corporate wars.

I would love to see Apple buy AMD . That would prompt intel to buy a few companies . Like Razer . They already have great software companies.

Apple has no reason to buy AMD. APPL is on an incredible run of success, why would they risk all that by becoming Intel's direct competitor? And that's the main problem with buying AMD, as soon as you do, you're in the ring with Intel. And no one wants that, in fact AMD is about the only company to take on Intel directly and survive.

Well Apple likes using their own junk. So if they don't come out with their own "Project Denver", they could just buy AMD. Without the foundries they could get AMD pretty cheap and then use them just to make Apple chips. Selling chips outside of Apple would simply be icing on the cake.

they only say that x86 is "dead" b/c they don't have access to it atm. nvidia taking over amd would be a huge coup imho, the combined company would literally own the entire pc gaming market. intel would still own a huge % of the total graphics market so regulatory approval would probably be a cinch as well.

I think that jhh would relish the challenge. His personal mission is to be #1, and the best way to do that is to take down the CURRENT #1. acquiring amd would at least start up a conversation about it.
