Only two to three months away from dual core cpu's. I think my long over do upgrade is worth a wait that long. Maybe even longer, t'ill August. When the new video cards are comming out.

So I'm seeing that there wont be any dual-cored FX's until 2006 under socket M2? I was expecting AMD to initially come out iwth a dual-cored FX to compete against Intel's upcoming dual-cored Pentium D X.

Did you also notice though that everything after the FX-61 that is 64 bit will be DDR2? Here's hoping for a big drop in prices and a huge increase in performance.......

Thw way I see it, FX is first and foremost a gaming solution, so the FX-61@3.2ghz should be more than enough to keep the gaming title firmly in AMD's camp.

Ah... not bad, but i wana see AMD with a memory controler that can take 2GB to the T1 arena with DDR400+. 2GB OCZ EL VX 4000 Gold on a nice DFI NF4 would be sick with one of these soon-to-be A64's. One can only hope...

I think the regular dualcores will best Intels anyway. Intel had to drop to 3.2Ghz to get their dualcores running, AMD keep their current speeds. Surely AMD's dualcores will own any Intel dualcore.

I hope that 4200+ 2.0ghz dual core will oc....That looks like the sweet spot.....

I also doubt any of those dates will come to fruition and we will biatch and moan repeatedly for weeks after they say they were supposed to be launched....AMD just cant seem to get things to the market in the quantities that are needed.....

Hopefully I will have a DC opteron by then so I may just get a venice for now (May 05) and play around with it until Aug 05)

Because at that time it will probably cost the same as DDR-I and the timings will be closer to DDR-I, and the extra bandwidth will do the dualcores well. (or so I guess)

i am getting a cheap A64+PCIE+nForce4 box to last me till next year.

then i'm buying a dual-core DDR2 beast with a DX10 vid card.

my personal prediction: DDR2-667 on AMD64 will be the new T-bred. O/C'ing the FSB to 800 will produce a hell o9f a system. free performance, which is the limit of my clcoking interest.

Why is everyone saying August to upgrade? I heard the R520 was supposed to be ready by June as well. Obviously there is the risk of yet another paper launch, but that is equally true for the dualies.
