I am amazed no one broke NDA.

I'm amazed all the AIBs have successfully stopped the leaks. Technically we should already have pictures of the GPU, a GPUz shot, and a bunch of benchmark results.. one month ago. There must have been extra stern talks to management.

plenty of 285's on videocardz.com but not a single performance benchmark leaked other than the official firestrike score.

I think things are really muddied because of still being on 28nm. I really don't see how this chip could be Tahiti's replacement. I think this was supposed to be Pitcairn's replacement on 20nm.

Anyone seen any more news on the 285X yet? I find it strange how they've been so quiet about the memory used... and how they manage to squeeze even more performance out of a 256-bit memory bus... HBM perhaps?

Another change for Tonga is that it supports 4K video encoding/decoding, something that even Hawaii doesn't include. By enabling support for 4K h.264 content in fixed function hardware, AMD claims to have as much as a 47% performance advantage over NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 760 using applications like Cyberlink Media Espresso and Arcsoft Media Converter 8.

The power efficiency gain was well below expectations. Hope they can take the 40% better bandwidth utilization into APUs.

So it's more like gcn 1.1.1. Pretty boring launch i must say

Holy crap this is awful. Nvidia is going to have a field day if new Maxwell cards really are coming in the next 4-6 weeks. Nvidia is going to be able scale Maxwell up way better than AMD is scaling GCN right now. Price premiums out the yin-yang.

Power efficiency is nice, but throw us a bone on performance (5-10%) AMD. This is not terrible, but a bit puzzling that it is much worse using Mantle vs. 280/280x due to the 2GB RAM. If Mantle is the future, why handicap an ideal card that would benefit from it?

Pretty shit.

$250 for barely faster than 7950 performance with MORE power use after 7950s have been out for how long?

Sick joke ain't even funny. I still have my 7950 in another rig, and its got 3gb of ram and can run WD with ultra textures.

Bring on 20nm because this is absurd.

Pretty much a useless chip and nowhere near Maxwell in efficiency.
So much marketing for nothing. What the hell are you doing AMD?
