Hi All,
Somethings been on my mind lately so I thought I'd come here to vent.
I am Canadian. Proud to be and always will be. I also spend a lot of time in the USA, working, vacationing, etc.
I have always enjoyed the hospitality of Americans, experiencing little or no attitude upon discovering my country of origin. For the most part, I always feel safe and welcome in your country - and I expect you feel the same. Canadians are known for their polite (aka wussy) attitude of welcoming everyone in our country to be here, enjoy themselves and freely express their beliefs and opinions.
Then the War on Iraq came.
It should be noted that the man in control of our country, Jean Chretien, is a real idiot. Up until this point I could respect his laid back attitude, always going with the flow, doing whatever wussy Canadians wanted him to do. But he f*cked up big time by denying America assistance in this war.
Why?
- America is our closest neighbor and friend. They drive our economy, and we drive theirs, to the tune of billions of dollars per year. We can drive to Niagara falls and pop across the border to visit our friends, family, vacation spot, etc. and we welcome eachother. Doesnt anyone remember things like the great wall of china or the separation of East/West Berlin? That is an alternative - yet people seem to take for granted the wonderful relationship we have with America.
- What the crap is Canada going to do in a War anyways? If your best friend got into a bar fight and you were sitting beside them, I bet you'd join in. Regardless of the fact that it might have been unjustified in some peoples minds. What can we do? Maybe send in a couple guys to throw shoes at the enemy, thats about it. We should have been there to help!!
So what is the end result of Mr. Chretien denying America of support?
- My friend was driving home from Florida, stopped for gas and the attendants wouldn't serve him because of his Ontario license plate.
- My grandparents friends came out from a shopping mall in VA to find a note on their windshield, "go home canadians".
- Just noticed that during the Leafs vs. Flyers hockey game 7, fans booed the Canadian national anthem.
- Heard on the news in a poll of 1000 Americans, 60% of them would replace a good normally purchased in Canada elsewhere.
See what you've done to us Jean Chretien?!? You moron. you f*cking moron, thats all I can say.
All I would ask is that Americans consider the following:
Canadians are not necessarily represented by our PM/fake president. Its not the first thing this guy has screwed up, but its the most major.
If you see a Canadian in your country, dont take your feelings out on them. They didnt make the choice to send you to war alone.
If it was up to me or any other clear headed person, I would have sent our help in a flash. You guys ran the war anyways, and always will. We would have been there to back you up, just like the winters when unpaid snow plow drivers cross the border and plow your streets.
Dont forget. America has brought us many wonderful things, and Canada provides you with the same.
Canadian:
to name a few; Jim Carey. The Guess Who. Michael J Fox. PAMELA ANDERSON. Mike Weir. All hockey players. Alexander Graham Bell.
American:
to name a few; George Washington. All good fast food. Buzz Aldrin. Jerry Sienfeld. Great technology, including the popularization of fast internet.
These are only a few people and things I enjoy, and I have American and Canada as a team to make them possible.
Sorry America, for ditching you in the Iraq war. If it was up to us, we would have been there. While Jean Chretien denied our support under the close eye of the U.N., he secretly applied for a job there because he knows that his time is up. AKA, he sold out on America so he can get a UN job after he'd done.
If you see a Canadian or are here enjoying our country, keep it all in mind.
God bless!
Edit: If you have something stupid to say, eg "bad spelling", go waste your time somewhere else
