My local Gander Mountain outside of Madison, WI is selling this nice ammo for $29.99 per 100 round box:

This is a HOT, HOT, HOT deal for those with AR-15's anywhere near Madison, WI.

For those not in the area is the same $29.99 per 100 round box deal through an online vendor. Shipping for a case of 10 boxes is only $12. Smmmmmmmoking!!!

1) Looking at current market value for the above-mentioned product, this is a very hot deal.

2) It is a product legally sold in the U.S. at Wal-Mart, among many other places.

3) The ratio of gun stuff threads to tech stuff threads is very, very small.

4) If you dislike firearms or gun owners, don't click on this thread. The title makes it very plain that it is firearms related.

American Eagle (Federal made) is good stuff and that's one heck of a price (although I'd prefer it if that was their XM193). If only I didn't have 1500+ rounds of cheap Russian stuff sitting in my closet...

Sad because last year around this time I paid almost that much for 1000 rounds of said cheap Russian junk!

Perhaps it's time for a 'Guns Hot Deals' sub forum.

Right, because "Hot Deals" ONLY relates to techy stuff...

*edit* Palmetto has XM193 for the same price. For those with 5.56mm spec barrels I'd go this route instead.

This is a nice deal. I've been considering picking up a Mini-14, maybe I'll get this before that just because of the price.

You're right, that XM193 is an even better deal than what I posted. Good eyes.

I've owned two Mini-14's in the past. I now own none. If you have the $$$ to spend and like how it looks, etc., more power to you. However, it is a very over-priced rifle for what you get. It is also notoriously inaccurate and quality 30 round mags for it are far from cheap.

If you want a rifle in .223/5.56x45 I would suggest an inexpensive, no-frills AR-15 such as a Smith & Wesson M&P model AR-15 from www.cdnninvestments.com They currently have a $599, $699, and $799 model for sale. Any of these three would be a great gun.

This is not to say that the Mini-14 is a piece of junk and is no fun to shoot.... just that there are better deals and better guns out there for the same $$$.

Not quite as good, but if you're Gander Mountain-less, Sportsman's Warehouse has had that ammo as well for $6.99 per box of 20 with a 5% discount if you buy in 10 box increments, so 100rds for $33.21 (+tax of course).

It's hard to tell what the additional $100/$200 buys you looking at their catalog. The way they splay the features/attributes all over in different sized/colored font makes comparison difficult. I'm used to being sold on why I'd want to spend an additional $200 over the base model.

ahh i thought it was the clothing store... FML

Hehehe that's what my brain first told me when I read it. I guess that's the hidden cost of having such a horrible and cheesy name like American Eagle. These colors don't bleed under hot wash.

Ok i'm reading about gun laws and can't figure out max clip size in missouri.

I don't suppose there is a website that has the DO's and Don't based on state. With updated info as it comes out?

In a nutshell:

The XM193 is loaded hotter than the American Eagle .223 ammo I posted for higher velocity. There is a slight difference between .223 and 5.56x45 ammo. The .223 is the sporting version of the round. The dimensions of the neck are very slightly different and it is loaded to lower pressures than the 5.56x45. It is perfectly safe to shoot .223 ammo out of a 5.56x45 rifle, but NOT kosher to shoot the more potent 5.56x45 load out of a .223 chambered rifle. You could damage your rifle and, more importantly, yourself.

The M193 was the original load developed for the M16 for the Vietnam War. It is a 55 grain FMJ (full metal jacket) bullet that runs like 3200 feet per second out of a 20" barrel. In the 1980's the M855 came out. It is a 62 grain FMJ bullet with better penetration of hard targets than the original M193 bullet. Since the M855, heavier loads (75-77 grains) have come out that hit harder at longer range (they retain velocity better over greater distances).

Kind of interesting discuss of dif between XM 193 and AE
Seems pretty involved

Here you go:

http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/
Just click on Missouri on the U.S. map.

There is no state "Assault Weapon" ban in Missouri. As the Federal ban had its sunset in 2004, there should be no restrictions on mag size there. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

Now go out and buy yourself some of these
