How can someone making less than 30k annual, receive a Platinum card?

I always thought that you had to have a higher income for the Platinum.

Heh, my friends dad did the same thing, except he owned the company. When he sold the company, he cashed in his reward points and got $13,500 worth of Home Depot gift cards.

Nah, I'm a student making less than 30k/year and I have a Platnium Plus card through MBNA and a Platnium card through Chase. The word "Platnium" really doesn't mean crap I guess.

depends on whether you are talking literally or figuratively. platinum, gold, silver, etc all are different levels that comes with different card benefits (roadside help, concierge, rental insurance, etc etc etc)

In the context of the post I was replying to, I meant Platnium really doesn't imply a certain income level for the card owner.

Because it's net household income. If you run a homebased business you could easily spend 500k and only make 20k. That would make your household income 500k + whoever else lives in your house can also be counted.

I am asking for I had a 30k income and a Platinum Amex card .. How is it possible that Amex considered me for that card?

This was after I had a Gold Amex for several years.

I'm am a baker and do not own a business and at the time I had no more than 1k in the bank.

This post was not meant to brag about how big my e-penis is, how much better I am over people, or that I ran out of people to brag this too. If you took this the wrong way, I apologize. But there is nothing is my initial posts that I think would make me come out as such. As I said, I read some previous topics on this, and a lot of the information was wrong - so for the curious people, I thought I would share some information about this card. It is funny to see when people ask information about different products everyone is willing to listen, but the moment when someone posts information and acknowledges they own said product, flames start to develop.

This isn't FW, it is Anandtech, I realize that. I've been board members on both for a while, just more active over on the other forum. Glad to see other people from FW here, too

This post isn't whether I really have this card or not. I do, but that is besides the point. But for those haters, if you want to put money on this, I will spend the time to take a pic and host it up. Wanna make a PayPal bet?

As for XANGA, I chose to cancel it about a year ago, and they charged me an additional month of picture postings. I disputed this with my credit card (not the BLACK one), and they put that on my account.
