If you travel due to your business and your are your company, then you can't depend on your corporation to reimburse. Having this much credit in a high volume business that you yourself owns would probably be very beneficial. Especially since most of those Amex cards you can't carry a balance on. Thus, they are basically lines of credit without interest unlike lines of credit that most businesses offer. I certainly don't have a need for a card like this and neither does most of the people on this forum. If you have a business that you buy and sell a lot of stuff then I can see the need.

Wouldn't you get a Business card if you are self employed? A personal credit card does not make sense, unless you don't pay taxes on the income.

Well... it would make sense to get a business card to prevent yourself from going bankrupt if things didn't work out... This is very true. However, maybe this guy just wants to brag and/or has found the Amex Black to be better for his usage than a business card.

Also business cards don't report on your personal credit report and in general offer better perks and lines of credit.

I think the Amex black offers fairly decent perks and credit line.

Yeah...my goal is to get one by December of this year. Won't work if I keep getting banned from people's websites because I'm a "dealer" though.

CitiBank Platinum Dividend Card - $5,000
Discover Platinum Card - $5,000
Discover Classic Card - $1,000
PayPal Visa Card - $500?

Oh yeah - I assume that these are your cards and their respective spending limits? Pretty sad - only a $500 limit on your PayPal Visa card? My dad just opened up a PayPal account and applied for their card - got approved at $2000.

Discover classic? $1000 limit? That's AWEFUL low. Platinum at $5000?

And Citibank Platinum at $5000?

I'm sorry, but if you have the kind of credit to be getting an Amex Black, the respective limits on these four cards should be way higher than this. Your discover platinum and citibank should be at least $25,000.

Let me be the first to say - I call BS.

Whoa, what's up with your sig link xanga?

This site has been shut down due to terms of use violations

The owner of the credit card used to purchase Premium services for this Xanga account has filed a complaint of *credit card fraud*. We have notified the authorities, refunded the credit card owner and terminated the account. A full investigation is currently under way.

This doesn't have anything to do with your AMEX does it?

Yea, I don't own a business nor am I self employed, but my MBNA card has a limit of $8,000, which works fine for me. Combined with me $5,000 Citibank, it's all I need and they both have low APRs.

Really though, what IS the point of this thread? Are you asking us a question or something? This just seems like an excuse for Azurik, and now CrazyDe1, to brag...

I put enough charges on my AmEx Corporate card each month to easily qualify for the Black card status over the course of a year. But I don't think I'll ever be approached about 'Black' membership because I'm already part of a larger corporate account that gets many of those same perks (and most of those concierge-esque perks are pretty worthless from what little I can tell.) I usually have to put at least $15k+ a month on my card for online media buys for our clients. My company pays the bill directly, but because I pay the $75 annual fee out of my own pocket, I get all the points. It's a pretty sweet deal as I'm basically getting the equivalent of at least one free Southwest flight (or $200 in Home Depot gift cards) a month. I'm an average joe spending corporate money. I don't need a concierge making reservations for me at a trendy NY restaurant. Just give me a few hundred dollars worth of gift cards and set me loose in Home Depot and I'm happy.
