Small size allowing the tightest rear packaging along with the lowest COG possible would need to be balanced with peak HP. As an overall package, a 7L V-8 would cause huge issues.

GM's new road going 7L V8 weighs 400LBs and is widely regarded as a physically small engine.

The truck variants (with a taller intake and such) are 25" wide, 29" long, and 28" tall.

The dimensions include the oil pan, spark plug wires, flywheel, water pump, harmonic balencer, and full intake.

Not large, nor heavy.

Precisely. When the Japanese start making a tank that can compete, we'll have a discussion.

not every country is so excited about democracy and using tanks and helicopters to enforce it.

by the way german cars are the best of both worlds between japanese and american. a nice blend of power and handling and styling.

I owned a 73' TransAm SD with a 455 (bored over .030 to 488cuin 8L) it had nitrus and could pass anything but a gas station.

I liked you better when you were saying that the other guys weren't half the cock I am.

I know there have been a lot of commotion between the AWD vs RWD topic but there are some facts that haven't been noted:

1st: Skylines dominated in Japan's Group A racing series. They won 29 of the 29 races in the 4 years of there of the life of the series. The series was eventually abolished as no other manufacturer wanted to race against the skylines. In JGTC (Japan Gran-Touring Championship), the Skyline GT-R dominated the series until the regulations were modified prohibiting all-wheel-drive systems (when the GT-R was the only 4wd competitior in the series), forcing NISMO to convert the JGTC GT-R race cars to rear-wheel-drive only.

and 2nd is AUDI. Audi began competing in Rallying back in the 80's and led the way with there AWD system to the point that all cars now in the professional rally leagues use AWD. Audi has also competed in Germany in touring car racing to the point where the sanctioning body dis-allowed all wheel drive because it was too much of a competitive advantage. They recently began competing in the SCCA Speed World Challenge in where they dominate the season against Porsches, BMWs, Corvettes and Acuras.

Now in races where both All wheel drive and Rear drive cars compete together AWD have always taken the GOLD.

Out of those cars, I'll take the Japanese Cars overall as a group & Z06 individually.

Umm...why do the Japanese get one each from different brands yet all the American cars listed are from GM? I mean Dodge has a Viper, Ford has a Cobra Mustang and the GT, and then ...oh, well I guess thats it.

I'd take the American cars just because they sound better.

The Skylines did very well, but how come other 4wd car couldn't compete? You'd think if the 4wd gave them the decisive advantage that you'd have other 4wd cars being able to sometimes beat the Skyline.

And how old are you? 19? LOL

You remind me of the ricers who pull up next to me with a Corolla and a Civic and try to race me. Then they proceed to tell me that their friend knows a guy whose roomate's brother owns a xxxx that will kill my car, as if I'm impressed by that or something.

Every boyracer wants a car that revs high, yet doesn't understand the concepts of HP, Torque, or usable powerband. All they spout is useless nonsense like "power per liter". A real engineer doesn't make life difficult for himself. They do things for a purpose.
It's posts like this that make you look like a fool.

You arn't addressing his post, just acting like the typical "I own a fast car, so you are a moron and know nothing". The points he brought up are very valid, yet you dismiss them. You're immediatly putting him in the "ignorant boy ricer" category because he doesn't agree with you. You can just as easily be categorized.

I'm not trying to attack you, but don't come down on someone like you're the end all be all of car knowledge. So you own a fast car that you probably bolted together yourself with parts made specifically for it. That doesn't mean you understand the engineering behind engines, or racing. You disagreed with people who made valid points about having a lightweight, high revving engine. Then you went and made some ego boosting comment about how kiddies roll up to you and try to race you. What the hell does that have to do with anything posted in this thread ever? You just assumed the riceboy position. Congratulations.

Because the VR4 and the 300ZX are in two different leagues..

The VR4 puts out ~270hp V6, where as the 300ZX is alot less (230 isn't it?)

They do make good sedans and a few good SUVs.

But they have a long ways to go for muscle cars and trucks.

Are you kidding? American muscle hasn't put out a decent block like the 1 or 2JZ block in the supra, the STOCK engine can be boosted to over 800 horsepower!

So.. you're kidding right?

In Group A there was a mix of both AWD and RWD cars. The AWD cars dominated but the skylines were ahead of AWD and RWD cars. IN JGTC (which came after Group A) every manufacturer spent most of there money on there RWD sports cars and didn't abandon there bread and butter to compete in the series so instead of trying to beat Nissan at there own game they just banned AWD. If they went the other way they would have ended up just like Group A racing, a race series in which no manufacturer would want to race in because they know they would lose.

They aren't in two different leagues. They're in the same league. They both had 300 hp stock (later 320 for the VR4), but the 3000GT weighs about 300 lbs more than the Z. It's very heavy, around 3800 lbs.

In nearly all tests, the 300 outperformed the 3000GT. The 3000GT is generally the least capable out of that class of Japanese cars from the early/mid 90's due to its weight.

While I was reading through this thread, it suddenly dawned on me that a certain poster's name isn't "911TTZ." Which I took to mean Porsche 911 Twin Turbo Z. How dissappointing, I thought he had a cool car.
