dman6666, i am in South Florida too, and i agree with you on the attitudes of most BB employees...
as for opening a store, you clearly are not aware of how BB works. a few years ago, they entered into contracts with all the major studios. the studios provide all the movies BB needs/wants for minimal out of pocket costs for BB, but then the studios also receive a healthy portion of each rental fee (like 50%). i'm sure they also receive a good portion of the proceeds from actually selling the previewed movies as well. so really, BB is just a branded front-end for the studios at this point. BB had better look into acquiring some pay-per-view assets SOON or they will be going the way of the dodo in the coming years, i believe. the only thing at that company worth anything is the brand name recognition.
as for purchasing the movies for rental, it used to be that rental stores could buy movies way before the rest of us but at significantly higher prices ($100+). at $4 per rental, it took a while before a movie paid for itself, but with 1 and 2 night rentals of popular titles they could make a profit in about a month. in the age of shared revenues, it seems that this is no longer being done.
if someone works at BB and wants to discount everything i've said, i invite you to do so. however, this is what i was told by a former BB employee around 2 years ago...
