BMW and Audi are fast.
They also don't cost $30k for a 250+ horsepower engine Americans have cheap power in their V8s. And yes with the shortage of oil - or rather the finite nature of it - in years gas prices will skyrocket everywhere as Golfgti said.

you can still get the Scooby dooby dooby where are you Impreza STI BABY.
Yes you can but again it's not a big car is it

Actually, the vast majority of pollution from road vehicles comes from commercial vehicles.
Actually most of the automobile pollution comes from the proliferation of small cars. There are so many of them. Commercial vehicle add very little air pollution due to the fact there are fewer of them and diesel engines don't have the same pollutants as cars.

The majority (over 70%) of air pollution comes from industrial sources and livestock farms (methane).

Well sorry to disappoint you but American cars with V8 are not nessecarily fast or even faster than our cars (well my experience is like 10 yrs old) . When I was there, if I remember correctly those extremely ugly things that the police and taxis used to drive (crown vic. and what was the name of that Chevy that looked like a boat upside down) had a huge V8 under the hood that didnt even make 200hp and couldnt even reach 200km/hr (125mph). Now u do that with every 115hp golf class car. Another thing is the US cars are not build for our speeds, so the few ppl that actually have US cars in Germany usually have quite high repair costs cause these cars are just not build for average Autobahn speeds (90-130mph). Also most normal US sedans dont have the a suspension setup/technology that permits safe travel at those speeds (well permits maybe but u feel unsafe).
Also US cars are extremely low on resell value even lower than Korean cars

I don't know if you've ever been in a vehicle in the US but by US standards those are not big cars (again I don't know about a peugot). I don't even think a lancer or impreza make the midsize category, let alone full size. And they surely aren't as big as a V8 SUV!

Yeah, dream on if you really think that. How many cars are there in America? At least 2 for every family. You guys are just big polluters. Period.

Hey don't appologize I don't drive a US car. But over in North America we have access to many of the same cars you do over in Europe - we just don't want them. Yes many people do drive Golfs (the VR6 though hehe), and I'm not saying the engineering is great of some of these large American cars like a lincoln or cadillac or some massive SUV, but one thing these cars are is BIG. That slow caprice classic yes could be beaten out by a golf, but it's not going to make a good taxi. In europe maybe, but when people here could instead get into a caprice why would they squeeze into a VW?

... maybe its cos their such BAD drivers that they need the extra protection for head on collisions....

they buy a big car and a big engine to make it move

why not buy a smaller car with a smaller engine which goes faster, has moer MPG and its sexier??

You must be from Amsterdam, because you're smoking an awful lot of some leafy green substance. Bigger? Cheaper? Hah.
And I love how you're proving "faster" by quoting HP numbers.

Since my statement is based on scientific studies, what is your opinion based on?

Bigger the better. THe sky's the fugging limit baby!

You can see my sig for my cars. The maxima is decent on room but I drive a sentra. I'm not endowed yet with the full on buy bigger american mentality. I'm just explaining why people here drive gas guzzlers.
and Euro cars are soooo much faster and the engines arent half as big!
Not sure about that - can you pay less than $30k US for a car that will take on something like a mustang Mach 1? I don't think you can in Europe...

Well GTI while I prolly share your view, u have to consider, that the US are huge and very lightly populated, so they dont see the effects of pollution as immediate as we do. Also their society is different - ppl thinking about consumption (in general) and environment are laughed at and namecalled in many cases which is quite the opposite to here.
