Actually, the vast majority of pollution from road vehicles comes from commercial vehicles.
Actually most of the automobile pollution comes from the proliferation of small cars. There are so many of them. Commercial vehicle add very little air pollution due to the fact there are fewer of them and diesel engines don't have the same pollutants as cars.

Yeah, dream on if you really think that. How many cars are there in America? At least 2 for every family. You guys are just big polluters. Period.
Since my statement is based on scientific studies, what is your opinion based on?

Links? I'm just saying that the Americans don't think as pollution-orientated as the Europeans.

The majority (over 70%) of air pollution comes from industrial sources and livestock farms (methane).
That's why it says 'atomobile pollution' not 'all the fvcking pollution under the sun'
Now, diesel in europe is different than the sh!t here: commercial vehicles are not required to pass emissions checks in any state to my knowledge.

The US is MUCH larger than Europe. We aren't packed in here like you. There is no immediate need to use small cars. You Europeans have small streets, 400 years old, built for carts and buggies. I garauntee you that if Europe had as much free space as America, you would be driving SUV's as well.

That being said, I still dislike SUV's.

Time from origin of car post to NFS4's entry: 24 minutes.

You're a little slow on the uptake today.

Yes, that and if gas was as cheap. I agree totally that Americans, for the most part, don't give a sh*t about the environment. Europeans say they do and probably do but it's not from goodness of their heart but because they have to. There could easily be an argument made for why does a European need to be driving around in even a 180 hp small car when you can get a 110 small car instead? People react to their pocket books most of the time regardless of where they live. If gas prices in the US hit what they are in europe and stay there I guarantee people will sell their SUVs and start buying smaller cars.

So I summed up air pollution in general. So what.

In Canada (Ontario) commercial vehicles are required to pass emmission tests.

Re-read what I said. There are 2 paragraphs, not one.

BMW and Audi are fast.

some people just want a car made in their country that's all.

You know I was thinking of getting a VW Golf... 4 banger.. turbo... then I thought... man... shotty company (over 30K for a Passat BS is what I say) AND 17K for the Golf I wanted... ANOTEHR BS, PLUS its made in Mexico... pfft I'd expect great things from them

Then I looked into a Toyota Corolla... great car.. MUCH greater than the dumb@$$ Golf... or nay VW for that matter.. Corolla's are uber reliable.. too bad the dealer tried to screw me..

So in spite I went and got a CHEVROLET ASTRO. 4.3 Liter Vortec V6. Power I can feel... RWD... huge @$$ space and UNDER 16K for me I love my local dealer.

I get 15 MPG... but I laugh at the loser in the tiny VW I see trotting along... plus I can crush it too..

So.. mr GTI... go troll elsewhere... your dumb car thread makes no sense..neither do you for that matter.. go have a  and shaaaaaad up.

I know that if they were given the choice, South Carolina wouldn't be a part of the Union, but technically they still are. You can get BMWs made in South Carolina. They're just as American as Dodges and the Toyotas and Hondas made in America.

Heck, my SAAB is a GM car these days.

My old Volare stationwagon with slant 6 & auto got 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. I had it tuned for good mileage.

Isn't the best selling car in America the Toyota Camry? That's not exactly a gas guzzling beast by any measure. Also, the only way a friggin Golf will do 150mph is by dropping it off of a cliff, and even then it's iffy.
