VR6 probably hits 150mph

GTI 180 turbo is 145mph +

GTI 150bhp (mine) 140mph+ (modded)

Well our taxis are no Golfs, they are E-class mercedes usually - diesels, cause those mercedes diesels are known to last 200000+ miles

on the size, well I guess the taste is just different, a golf would be about the biggest I would be interested in, after all I am living in a town and right now (my car is Mini-sized) it is already hard anough to find a parking spot so that I dont have to walk so far that I'd rather not use my car at all. Also since I live in a town and seldom travel more than 3-5 miles at a time it would be horrible for me to have bigger car, with such short driving distances my gas consumption is 40% higher than full throttle Autobahn driving.

GolfGTI, please shut up. You're giving us VW lovers a bad name. STOP RUINING PEOPLE'S IMPRESSION OF US. VW's aren't the best cars in the world.

Then I looked into a Toyota Corolla... great car.. MUCH greater than the dumb@$$ Golf... or nay VW for that matter.. Corolla's are uber reliable.. too bad the dealer tried to screw me..

So.. mr GTI... go troll elsewhere... your dumb car thread makes no sense..neither do you for that matter.. go have a  and shaaaaaad up.

Yes, a CHEVY ASTRO is a direct competitor to the VW GTI. ;alskd;lfaks d;laksdf;alkdj;lka

there is NO WAY an M3, let alone an M5 gets 30+mpg. i know because my freind drives one, and another works at bmw, and ive freakin been in the cars a few times myself during trips.

a 1.8T gti isnt even getting 30 mpg, unless you're doing all highway miles. a vr6 gti getting 30? forget about it.

oh and hey, do your research. how many MPG do Z06 corvettes get?

<-- loves vw/skoda (vag cars in general basically) btw

Where did you get the idea that American vehicles pollute ?

We have invented the catalytic convertor, the modern electronic fuel injection and air reactors.

Dumb Americans

Opening your mouth only exhibits your stupidity, every vehicle manufactured in America is efficiant and very clean burning, the U.S. government was the first to impose emmision regulations, long before Europe did, (late sixties, early seventies) this is why Eurpean automobile manufactures had to redesign thier engines with smog controls for the American market.

You really should keep your big fat mouth shut, especially when you know nothing about the subject.

Dumb Europeans

Not nice to be insulted, is it ?

1.8t will maybe hit 150.. vr6 will probably hit 150.. if not stock then probably with a few hp and other mods you'd do to a golf anyway (suspension)

WOWOWWOWOWWOWOWWOWOW we all care about top speed.

You drive a Golf. Or as most people refer to it, a toaster on wheels. I like Golfs, they're nice cars. Sh!tty shifters, but a good powerplant to play with.

Oh, and stop sterotyping Americans. We do not all drive V8s and get into head on collisions. Stop trolling. The best part was your postcount rant. NO ONE CARES. YOU ARE STILL A FLAMING n00b.

Meh. If you had to cover the distance that an average american driver NOT residing in a city had to drive in a year, you'd want something bigger for comfort and able to haul more people comfortably. Driving 2,000 miles a month in a VW Lupo or a Ford Ka is not my idea of riding in comfort.

Besides - the top selling sedans here in the US come with rather fuel efficient I4's or the optional V6 that they offer.

All nice cars yes, but for under $30k you can buy a mach 1 mustang which will smoke the living tar out of either of them. So you can't really say that european cars are "faster", since I'm still waiting to see if there is one for under $30k US that can take on a cheap bang for buck V8. The new lancer evo will give it a run for its money but of course that's not european

Top 20 selling sedans in the U.S. in February:
Ford Taurus 30,871
Honda Accord 29,335
Toyota Camry 28,345
Honda Civic/Civic Hybrid 23,421
Toyota Corolla 23,219
Chevrolet Impala 20,088
Ford Focus 18,384
Chevrolet Cavalier 17,191
Nissan Altima 14,216
Chevrolet Malibu 12,864
Dodge Neon 10,928
Pontiac Grand Am 10,268
Buick Century 10,008
Oldsmobile Alero 8,851
Volkswagen Jetta Sedan 8,831
Hyundai Elantra 8,776
Dodge Intrepid 8,385
Saturn Ion Sedan 7,340
Buick LeSabre 7,296
Mitsubishi Galant 6,928

How many of these are even available with a V8? Glancing over the list, I don't think ANY of these cars have a V8. Blatant trolling should have at least some basis in fact.

The Impala *should* have a V8. I think it's embarrasing that a Buick is even on the list.
