There is, it's called strong-arm robbery

Just curious about this, the child didn't "own" the package at that point. I'm guessing the law is written as taking a "possession" and does not necessarily require the person to own the object.

I was thinking of the final battle scene in The Last Samurai, when the camera pans over the entire battlefield showing everyone fighting. Some of the videos would go great with that soundtrack.

I'm sure it does for strong armed robbery. More likely a disorderly or nuisance charge.

They could charge her with assaulting a minor....felony, ftw.

Yeeeeah, I'm pretty sure that whole thing was fake.

If you actually watch the video, there's literally dozens of the things still left on the pile, and four or five on the ground, uncontested, literally at the ladies' feet.
Sorry, Black Friday shoppers are stupid, but she literally had to walk over several laying on the ground to snatch one from a kid's hands, while someone conveniently has the whole thing in frame on their phone.

Sorry, but just because it's "on teh webnetz" doesn't make it real, folks.

Sad how Americans back then would wait for hours for necessities but today act like a pack of hyenas over the most frivolous and fleeting of luxuries.

They wouldn't have just waited for necessities, they would have been willing to work their flesh to the bone to get them.

I would never say we should desire to go back to the breadline circumstances, but we could certainly be more appreciative of what we have these days (at least in the US). It is amazing what we consider essential these days, and I'm saying that as someone who thinks universal healthcare would be an OK thing.

duh.

easier to take from a kid then bend over and get it.

She has to bend down to take from the kid too. What's a few more inches to avoid being dbag of the year? She also walked right past some boxes on the floor to get to the kid.

Americans have become too fat, lazy and entitled and it's why this country is circling down the drain. There's still those that work very hard but they're becoming fewer in number. Imagine if the US was like a middle east country facing daily bombings by various world powers with no infrastructure and terrorists shooting at you on every street corner. All these people, and I use that word loosely, would probably turn into cannibals and start eating each other.

I love the one where they lady snatches an item right out of a small child's hands and then starts screaming about how "defensive" the mother is being and how scared she is after the mom grabs her stupid ass.

She would have gotten bitch slapped right then and there if it were me. Fuck the items. Don't touch anyone's kid.

What kind you buying. Test kitchen recommends one with a bottom that is a round circle of metal and I don't like those because when you set them in the sink the water won't drain our easily from the bottom. I like ones that have feet. Even the experts are often wrong about things......... Happy colander hunting.

I actually like my metal round bottomed colander but I've never tried anything else really. It seems to drain fine if you shake it right but now I'm intrigued so I'm going to put that on my Xmas list. Thanks!

I'm amazed that there isn't a law whereby the lady who grabbed the package out of the hands of the child who clearly had it would be punished.

This probably could simply have been avoided if:

Seriously though, I wonder whether the UK police response is better though, it seems to me like they're saying "if you can't manage security effectively in your own store causing us to have to respond to your ill-planned business stunt that could have gone horribly wrong, your store shouldn't be open".

Might makes right and the spoils belong to those with the power to take it.
Stop being such a damn socialist.

Rumors were that it was a skit for one of the Late Show's (Jimmy Kimmel's if I recall). No idea if it was proven or not.

Did everyone miss the fact the woman and the kid come out from an aisle at the top right already holding the boxes? The woman grabbing the box also comes from the right never having passed by the cameras when everyone runs in. Definitely staged.

This behavior isn't staged. One of my Co-Workers does retail work on the weekends to bring in extra money. She worked Black Friday. People really are this aggressive over dumb cheap shit that's not worth fighting over.

And everyone is dressed nicely, not a single person in that line with their pants hanging down around their knees, underwear on full display for all.

That skit isn't staged because one of your friends works retail?

C'mon. No one is saying BF shoppers aren't dumb trash, but if that were anymore staged you'd here the director yell "action!". So yes, gullible.

I only bothered watching the first video, and it's staged.

Someone had their phone camera recording to catch the moment, a whole pile of products falls over, woman could have grabbed any number of available products on the floor but instead goes for the one in a kid's arms...

And let's add to the mix the shot is of the doors opening with the crowd initially rushing in... Why is the black woman and child already inside holding onto 3 products? And the white woman is never seen entering with the initial crowd, she was already inside prior to the doors opening. Why didn't she have one of the items in her hands like the black woman & kid? Why didn't she just pick up one of the 2 dozen spread out across the floor ready to pick up?

Completely 100% staged. The website wanted page clicks and we all gave it to them.
