Someone is getting all emotional with their shit up in here.

Seriously though I have a hard time believing that the manager of a Home Depot would allow individuals on their property to extort money from customers for shopping carts.

Somewhat extraordinary claims require some evidence, you losing your shit tells me you're absolutely fully of shit.

I think it is time for the sprinkler to go off in this thread and cool things down. Adams apparently has had enough with dealing with Hochul's demands relating to the migrant crisis. He has announced today that he is going to do massive slashes and cuts given to migrant aid initiatives, and at the same time he canceled all budget cuts that were made at the start of the migrant crisis.

Not gonna happen.. if anyone thinks a traumatic event for my wife is a joke.. and I'll just let that slide.. they're kidding themselves. No I'm not having that or any more convos with those idiots!

And I don't trust Adams handling the migrant crisis at all. His hotelier friends are making millions off of this.

Hochul seems to be a smart cookie.. she knows Adams is corrupt and won't give him a dime. Hopefully she'll try and likely do workarounds with things that actually make a difference, more cops for example.

The best idea I've heard personally is no more hotels for these migrants and they can leave on buses like they came!

Adams apparently has had enough

Requoting because I found this masterpiece:

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has been defending the law and appealed a lower court’s ruling against it. A spokesperson didn’t immediately respond when asked if City Hall planned to appeal to the state’s highest court.

Well that appeal didn't go anywhere!

So apparently at first he was all pro migrants but now that 80% of New York has turned against them.. he's changing his tune!

Another dochebag in the bin.

Is there anyone else questioning my integrity?
I am curious as to what you think integrity is. What is it? Why is it important to you? How can you prove you have it? Why do you care what others think of you or your wife. How does it come to pass that integrity needs defending.

I have asked myself these questions and here is what I have found. I was put down as a child. I was told I had to be certain ways or I would be worthless, considered so by other people. I was made to feel very afraid of how others would see me. I needed to have integrity, to pass moral muster or become an outcast. So now when my moral authority is challenged, I fall back on my integrity. So long as I defend myself and those I happen to love I can forget about the moral questions that challenge me and turn into a White Knight who defends integrity itself. But I don't have any idea what it is. It is something I use to substitute for real self respect.

Now on to immigrants..... How are you different from them? Are we not all immigrants? Were we not all born somewhere. Did we choose where we were born or who our parents would be? What is it you fear, that life has short-changed and one of them might get anything left? Are you afraid of competition, that they will excel and you will fall behind. Are you afraid you don't have their grit, that you might have to suffer hardship to compete? Aren't you really afraid they will win and you will be forced to feel worthless like you really have most all your life. Everything you fear is a projection onto them of what happened already long ago.

Not to worry. In just a few generation their butter ball children will be screaming bloody murder at the filth that will be arriving from hard places just like you are now.

Where did I call you a liar? I asked you for evidence of a claim you've made. Your unwillingness to provide that evidence is telling.

I expect a full apology given to Indus and his not lying but apparently watched a movie while either on drugs or off meds causing that to be hallucinated into roving gangs of them at Home Depots.

But in a potentially worrying sign for Biden, Trump’s message appears to be resonating with key elements of the Democratic coalition that Biden will need to win over this November.

Roughly two-thirds of Americans now disapprove of how Biden is handling border security, including about 4 in 10 Democrats, 55% of Black adults and 73% of Hispanic adults, according to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll conducted in March.

Gracie Martinez is a 52-year-old Hispanic small business owner from Eagle Pass, Texas, the border town that Trump visited in February when he and Biden made same-day trips to the state. Martinez said she once voted for former President Barack Obama and is still a Democrat, but now backs Trump — mainly because of the border.

“It’s horrible,” she said. “It’s tons and tons of people and they’re giving them medical and money, phones,” she said, complaining those who went through the legal immigration system are treated worse.

I really don't know how to change hearts and minds of voters on this. It seems their inner heart tells them Trump is correct here. And people vote with their hopes.. that Trump will fix it all.. And in contrast Biden's like Congress will fix this when they give everyone reason to think Congress will do nothing, and will stop everyone from trying to do anything.

That's why I think Trump can win..

The Hispanic vote in this country is not a monolith. Even inside states like TX you're going to find huge differences in views between say hispanics in the RGV (who have been moving right) and ones in say the Houston suburbs. The Cubans, Venezuelans, and Puerto Ricans in FL similarly represent substantially different political views.

As to the border people should start asking why Trump didn't "fix" it when he had a trifecta. Republicans are not going to fix a situation they think they can politically benefit from. The only thing their base stands for is ever harder policy on all immigration and that includes a desire to totally collapse all legal immigration into the country in the name of nativism.

Only idiots without a clue believe that Trump would do any better. Trump's hands will be tied just as Biden's are, as it's Congress who needs to do something. But seriously, what exactly is the problem with immigration other than it's something for you and other's to bitch about, as American people refuse to do the jobs they are willing to do? Immigration isn't really a huge issue, it's just blown up to get people to fight over trivial shit and ignore the real issues in this country.

I agree with you.. we have got to spend more on education so people can critically think but all I see irl is Nativism.

Maybe somehow the SILENT minority will favor Biden! /fingers crossed!

Works both ways. Chill.
I am chill!

I can accept someone's viewpoint of calling my viewpoint bonkers, but to actually accuse me of inventing and fabricating an event (that happened to be traumatic for my wife).. that's way over the line and is not political discussion anymore.

I have absolutely nothing to say or listen from those people.

Hmm, isn't there some recent right-wing talking point about how we are losing too much population?

Sounds like we have a bunch wanting to fill in the gaps! Win-win, right? (or are they too....brown?) My own hesitation is that they tend to be religious, we are full of fairy-tale believers already, thanks.

I'll agree with one thing, after helping several people through it --the legal immigration process is a nightmare--a multi-year, very expensive nightmare--where you are treated like garbage at every turn. I can see why people who have gone through it would be bitter, though perhaps they just *might* be underestimating the shit that the asylum seekers have to go through to try to get in. One dipshit at work thinks they are living high on the hog and that it's all a Democratic plot to win votes...of course this is the same dude who thought Bill Gates was trying to depopulate us with the covid vaccine, so there's that.
