Maybe I didn't phrase my concerns properly so you thought they were outlandish.

In simple terms:

If 1 or 2 states goes trump's way.. the country has a MAGA president we both know this.

We already know the senate map is hard next year.

But the worrying thing is we have the GOP making inroads here enough to get some districts and those would hand them a trifecta.

That is what worries me more than the whole state flipping.

Might sound crazy but Mitch wanted to keep the filibuster.. the MAGA crowd might not care about later and just want its cake now!
I guess I don’t view immigration as a particularly large problem then as the human trafficking from Republican governors is mostly going to solid blue states. As far as flipping districts in New York, also not particularly concerned - if anything Democrats are probably picking up seats in this state like Santos’.

^ This is why I haven't given your argument any serious consideration. Because it comes down to your bat-shit crazy, private issues with immigrants, not any public policy concern.
Maybe you're batshit crazy then

because I don't have issues with immigrants.

I have an issue with crime.
I have an issue with election rigging.
And I have a bigger issue with LGBT under assault.

I fear that the MAGA are using their megaphones to paint new migrants as criminals which might tip elections.

You wanna know what really pisses me the fuck off??

Where there is rage and anger there is fear and fear is the mind killer. You fear monsters and we become what we fear. All of this happens entirely within your own mind. The answer is not out there is some solution that will relieve your stress, but inwardly in self understanding. You are doing all of this to yourself as a result of feelings that are unconscious and repressed. Your enemy is you and the way to defeat it is to see who you are, to feel what you feel, the hurt, not of what you imagine is coming, but which already happened to you. Fear is of the past, repressed and projected outward into an unknown future. We expect our past to repeat and it does because we are constantly reliving it unconsciously by every associative trigger that sets it off.

I don't know what's wrong with Biden. He should make it very clear that he's taking some federal funds that help these states who are shipping these migrants and giving those resources two places like New York City where are these poor humans get shipped like cattle.

0 I don't know what the hell is wrong with the White House on this

There are liberal liberals of which we have a number here and authoritarian liberals like we also see here. The issue of immigration is divisive for liberals so the political answer to that is to offend everybody with nothing rather than making real enemies out of either faction. Please just sweep the immigration matter under the rug. Industry wants cheap labor so if you don't want immigrants then work for almost nothing and it won't be an issue.

But by historical standards crime in NYC is very low?

Do you not realize how conflicting your statements are?

To me, it reads as if you've swallowed that GOP rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. You keep saying you're worried about liberals in NY voting GOP simply because of crime and because of immigrants coming there...but it seems that you're as or more upset than anyone about both those issues.

So yes, you DO have issues with immigrants despite your deflection of the fact. I don't know how you don't see this.

I have an issue with election rigging.
Okay, so...who is doing the election rigging? And what the heck does it have to do with immigrants in NY? I'm confused about that comment being thrown in.

I get that you're giving examples of things that DO bother you as opposed to the immigrants you claim to not have a problem with (but really do), but it still doesn't compute.

I mean there are issues with crime candidates have successfully used.

Unfortunately New York City got the Republican light dbag mayor Eric Adams because he did play the crime card. But no New York is not voting for Trump or any of the GQP fucks

Biden is too old to be ideal. He sucks at sticking it to Republicans. He believes in being a gentleman among monsters. He is terrible on immigration as is the
Democratic party and both are pathetic when it comes to getting 1% money out of politics. I would love to sweep the lot in the garbage can and get determined progressives to replace both parties and in 20 24 I will be voting for Biden as the most rational choice. The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Umm you just summed up my feelings.. with the GOP being so terrible at so many things.. we should be killing it by having support of the locals.

I will NEVER vote GOP.. I don't even watch Fox, Newsmax or that brainwashing crap.. but I do talk with people, when about town.. like shop keepers, vendor stall workers and I don't know but they say look anywhere the migrants and crime is out of control.. people driving wrong way on mopeds in midtown.. stabbings and shootings.

So either I'm getting a very hardcore GOP sample or I'm actually observing and telling the truth (judging by how we lost those 3 congressional seats).

Yeah I think Santos is a goner but I think that southern Nassau district can swing either way.. and dems might have walked into the GOP trap and become vulnerable when I expected the upper hand.

Maybe it's better that way.. we were overconfident with hildabeast.. gotta make sure every person votes!

The answer isn't getting tougher on immigration as a political stunt, it educating the public and authoritarian democrats that what they need to do is to speak out on the rationality of not falling victim to that authoritarian impulse. Immigration is a hard problem that is going to take a very long time to fix and the only way to deal with the impatience and uncertainty of the current situation is to become educated on what is possible and what is not and not to put your finger on the scale of irrational reactions the inescapable problems of immigration that we have at present. You only make a case for Republican rhetoric and they will never fix the problem because they need it to rail against.

What you are observing is a police department that largely refuses to do the job it is paid to do despite a budget that eclipses the annual defense spend of Egypt. You've got a huge cop budget, a bullshit cop mayor, and a department that won't do shit.

So weird the solution is right there: lots of jobs open due to offering shit unlivable wages combined with a ton of immigrants who typically will accept shit unlivable wages so long as they don't have to get sent back to their hell on earth countries...

Fast track work permits and get these folks behind some counters. Welcome to America folks, spread your cheeks and brace of the footlong of American hospitality to newcomers.

This mayor is the absolute worst:

Mayor Adams announced Saturday there would be cuts as high as 15% to all city agencies by next spring — including NYPD and health department — in response to the costly migrant crisis, which could further impact the delivery of city services.

The mayor made a surprise speech over the weekend telling New Yorkers that the lack of substantial support from the federal and state government regarding the crisis — at a time when COVID aid is drying up — has forced the city to impose austerity cuts.

“We are in the middle of a humanitarian crisis involving asylum seekers, a crisis that will cost our city $12 billion over three fiscal years,” Adams said. “While our compassion is limitless our resources are not.”

Those cuts, the administration said, intend to “minimize disruption to programs and services, and there will not be layoffs,” according to a press release on the announcement. The current budget stands at $107 billion.

The cuts must be submitted ahead of the city’s budget update in November. If the city doesn’t get more federal help between now and January, Adams warned that there could be an additional 5% cut in January and another 5% in April. Adams also intends to impose a 5% cut in the following four years.

He's basically doing the Freedom Caucus's job for them while claiming to be a dem!

This is performative to try and get funding but Adams is such a clown. I’ve worked for the city through three mayors and he is by far the worst. Bloomberg was an asshole but he was competent. De Blasio was incompetent but he was a good guy. This guy is an incompetent asshole.

What an incompetent, manipulative piece of shit. He's using a 3 year calculation against an annual budget to try and justify the 15% cuts. That alone should make every New Yorker question the $12 billion figure over the 3 years, because of he is using this kind of manipulation, you can bet your ass he's manipulating that figure as well. I am betting that $12 billion includes costs that have nothing to do with the asylum seakers, but have been added in to make things appear worse than they actually are.

Thought the DN was not a right wing paper.

Family member worked for Daily News his entire life until retiring about 5 years ago. My wedding had a couple of daily news tables and my inlaws and wife were secretly referenced over many years in certain columns before that writer got laid off.

Daily News and New York Post staff are very similar. NYP simply caters to lower tiers of reader.

Interesting bit today:

It's nothing like the post, It's a mainstream publication. But they're right Joe Biden and the White House has fucked this up beyond belief. this was an issue where they could have won support, instead they're just fucking it all up.

definitely looking like it!

'Only 4% of independents, 5% of Republicans and 22% of Democrats say things in New York are getting better,' said Steven Greenberg, Siena College pollster.
