The question wasn’t disingenuous, but I appreciate the glib response, you excel at them.
Sure it wasn't. You have no interest in meaningful progress. You just want to stand in the way of it making sure no one is asking you to do anything.

My opinion BTW is that "political correctioness," as the term is most commonly used, occurs when a person is confronted about something they said that they cannot then justify within the confines of then-acceptable societal norms.
It's basically used as a term for being called out for being outside of what is considered to acceptable social behavior at that time. And who likes that? No one, of course.
Now, REAL political correctness is when such 'acceptable behavior' is directed by political authority figures. For example, when Trump attacked the kneeling NFL players by falsely accusing of disrespecting the military, that was actual political correctness.
But if you say something stupid and disrespectful in public and someone else calls you a nasty name for it, or if you write a ridiculous memo discussing at great length about how half your co-workers were somehow born incompetent for their jobs and your private sector employer shitcans you for it, that isn't political correctness. It's consequences.
That's not it in the slightest, and the scope is much larger than that.

Watch George Carlin bits where he talks about it.

PC is the reason that midget is now offensive.

Evergreen state college is one of a kind. It's not what Dems are about at all. Don't pretend.

So what about what happened at Berkeley? Is that also one of a kind?

The point is that PC culture is more than just "don't be a dick".

Political correctness doesn't really exist. The complaints always seem to come from people who can't accept that saying certain things is no longer socially acceptable.

So far all the examples seem to be asinine one-offs, which is strange considering that PC is supposedly some kind of scourge that is hampering society.

It's one of the most liberal colleges in America. I can even make fun of them, but that's not what mainstream liberalism is about.

Meaningful progress is a tricky thing. It requires two way dialogue, which necessitates that I listen and you listen as well.

Actual whataboutism. So predictable.

It's also predictable that those whining the most about being so persecuted by PC culture practically worship perhaps the biggest dick in America. So relax. He is your voice & sooner or later he'll say every dickish thing there is to say.

You do this a lot. Whataboutism is to discredit your argument by claiming you are a hypocrite. That is not the same as listing examples so back my claim.

You sound like Trump.

When your claim that Evergreen college is somehow typical of PC culture fails, you attempt to discredit me saying it's not typical at all by dragging in another entirely atypical event. And you don't even say what it is, you pose it as a question.

I did not say it was typical. You imagined that. What I did was to give an example of what can happen with PC culture. I then gave another example with Berkeley. It was asked how PC culture was more than to be polite, and so I gave an example.

You then come, in typical fashion, and believe I said or did something I did not do.

You can't call black men boy anymore either. Freaking PC police changing things.

Is it okay to use the word master for hard drives?

http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/11/26/master.term.reut/

What about chairs being too small for fat people and thus offensive?

What about banning clapping because it excludes deaf people?

Not world ending, but, very stupid and great examples of how dumb PC culture can be. Its not just about making people nicer.

Really reaching now, huh? all the way back to 2003 to pluck another single & atypical incident from the intarwebs.

The rest is just desperate nonsense.

These morons haven't figured out that you can find anyone or any example to back your claims by referencing something found on the internet.

Any bets that his latest example has never affected him or anyone he personally knows in the slightest?

That article is from October.... 2018

Ms Khan, the union's liberation and access officer, who proposed the motion at a recent meeting said clapping can "discourage" some from attending democratic events.

So-called "jazz hands", she said, encouraged an "environment of respect".

"I think a lot of the time, even in Parliamentary debates, I've seen that clapping, whooping, talking over each other, loud noises, encourages an atmosphere that is not as respectful as it could be," she said.

Still want to claim everything is from 2003? Or, do you want to admit you were wrong?

That is stupid. If I give an example, you will simply dismiss it as small and thus unimportant. Its a dumb game.

I did not claim everything was from 2003, just your one lame link. Claiming I did is dishonest. And now you're reaching clear across the Atlantic for another silly single episode. I doubt that will ever catch on in a way that affects your life or my own in the slightest.

So then giving a wide range of time, and places is somehow worse?

It just shows how weak your arguments really are. When you have to go to such lengths you're peddling really weak sauce.

If so-called PC culture were something more than a right wing claim of persecution you'd be able to show how it chills respectful & reasonable speech in significant ways. It just means you can't pretend to be Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or any number of others who can control the conversation in their venues. It means that such personalities may encounter resistance when they want to appear in person rather than via mass media. It means that people on the internet will call you on your shit when you spout it.

Why make it personal, when it isn't? It's not you and me doing this. It's larger groups of which you and I are not even remotely significant factors. And do let me know when oppressive people really take time to listen to the subjugated.

At best, the oppressed are heard. But the oppressors are not listening. Most in the dominant class won't even acknowledge their tacit role in the oppression. Always, the endless cries (to drown out the voices of the oppressed) mewling "I'm not racist! Don't call me that horrible name! My precious feelings!"

So to you, examples over a period of time, over a large set of locations is me going to such lengths. So, you would rather examples in a small geographic area over a short period of time. Do you realize how silly that sounds?

As for reducing reasonable speech, I provided one. Ben Shapiro is a hard core conservative. He is also a person that does reasonable debates and tries to engage the Left. When he went to Berkeley he needed 600 officers because the PC side lost their minds.

I think the problem you have is that you see PC as simply not being offensive and taking others feelings into consideration. That is wrong and that is likely why you can't understand this.

Hey DJ Quibbles, how do you quantify reasonable?
