Oh god here we go. Only on ATOT people argue about what kind of popcorn is the best.

Airpopped vs microwaved vs pan-fried vs 'fvck-you-I-have-a-full-blown-kettle-station'.

You guys will turn anything into a flamefest. Coffee and rice cooker got nothing on this.

I don't call it a flamefest. I think many people have valid points when it comes to common appliances.. and since these are a part of every household.. you are bound to read a lot of varied opinions and experiences.

Personally, microwave isn't the best way to make popcorn. A lot of un-popped corns and half of them burned to crisp.

But, and listen carefully, this may be hard to follow: FUCK AIR POPPING!!!!!
It's not THAT bad (especially seasoned with italian seasonings...yumm), and my health is more important than taste to me as I get older.

To all the microwave or old-fashioned popcorn cookers out there, what do you do when you have a hankering for some caramel/cheddar popcorn? Do you go make your own caramel and roll them around in the kettle? Do you melt your cheddar then add your maltodextrin?

Please... spare me the outrage.

You're buying a bunch of air, I can't believe anybody would do that.

I never heard of caramel or cheddar pop corn before, don't your hands get all sticky and shit? Also what do you need maltodextrin (it's sugary right?) with cheddar for. No wonder americans are fat. I never eat pop corn and don't miss them, I don't really eat outside of meals so I never have the occasion.

We must be the only household with no Microwave. People think we are weird but we simply have 0 use for it.

And yes we cook 99% of our food at the house....
same here.
A microwave really isn't necessary. It spares you some time with some foods and when reheating left-overs from the day before but that's it.

Doesn't seem all that different than pre-cooked bacon that people pay $22 a pound for.

LOL. You know, I can remember when my family first got a microwave in the early to mid 80s. I was AMAZED at how fast you could cook things. Now? I am like "This is taking FOREVER!!!!"

Wow...that seems cheap and the reviews are good. Very tempting.

I got it as a gift not too long after finishing up my theater room build. I've probably made 200 batches thus far and it's worked decently well.

You mean I have to get up and go put it in the microwave, and then wait? And I have to monitor it and keep track of how often it pops so I know when to stop it? Definitely too much work. Why don't they have popcorn delivery service? I just want to call a number and popcorn arrives at my door! Actually screw that, picking up the phone is too much work, I should be able to order online!

See, this is what Microsoft should have shown us during the Xbox reveal -- "Kinnect! GIMME POPCORNS!" and your doorbell rings....
