I can believe it. There are so many out there that have absolutely no idea of what real food is. The Orange County Register, a paper in our area, does a "Best Of" list. Of course Chipotle has won best Mexican and Olive Garden has won best Italian! Even Subway was voted top 3 sandwich shop.

I'm pretty sure that if I were Mexican, I would be out in the street rioting.

I don't even consider Taco Bell, Chipotle, QDoba or Taco Time to be "mexican restaurants"... more like crappy fast food with a slight mexican flair.
I don't subscribe to the notion that more authentic/traditional/genuine ethnic fare is more tasty/desirable. I hope restaurateurs don't listen to moans and hand-wringing over lack of authenticity. 'Tis not really something to get hung up on; unless your establishment exists to show Americans what exactly Mexicans put in their mouths - rather academic, but possibly a point of idle curiosity. Are you in business to make money? Or play Mexican?
To be honest, Mexican food is the most boring shit food of all cultures.
Simlly the words: tacos, burritos, rice, and beans just described 95% of what's on every Mexican food menu... and I'm not even exaggerating that figure.
Edit: yes, I understand they have other recipes, but there is reason why those don't make it to the majority of the restaurants: they taste like shit.
wait, really? please give some suggestions.I do love some Taco Bell on occasion, just a few items, but I don't call it mexican. It's taco bell.
But we got some real taco joints up here in the urban parts of northern NJ and some are mediocre, but the good ones are freakin' great. Destroys a taco bell taco in an instant.
