<< anything dls related i would say
I would have to agree. I know my opinion doesn't mean much, but how can these guys NOT make money hand over fist? People everywhere are signing up for DSL. The waiting lists for some are months long, and yet these DSL companies are dying.
I know I could be missing something, but I just don't get it. >>
Well there is the two-tiered approach in setting up a customer. Customer calls ISP, sets up service, then the telco gets involved to install equipment and prepare the phone line, and then back to the ISP side to provision ISP service. And when you have a problem, it could be line related (telco) or ISP related (router, etc...). You could be dealing with 2 different help desks. A really crappy system.
With Swbell, at one pt. they were 600K customers behind in just provisioning the lines for DSL, and the telco side simply did not have enough workers to do the installs they had provisioned. Many phone lines had to cleaned up before DSL would work. Compare with AT&T which handles the cable lines and service, and can even hook you up to TV. If you already had cable TV, many cases they did not have to come out. And no distance limitations. One stop shopping.
