No I didn't know that. I mean it is inaccurate if you take 6 foot, 250 lb bodybuilder that has most of his weight in muscle, but the guy I did calculations for is just fat. He said he doesn't exercise and eats like shit. There is simply no muscle.

BMI is useless, and any credible health professional will tell you so. The Air Force relied on BMI previously as part of a fitness assessment, but they were failing so many people who otherwise maxed out the actual fitness measurements (running, pushups, situps) that they changed it to a waist-neck comparison for fat percentage.

BMI does nothing but misinform.

No, just about any credible health professional that actually works in hospital will tell you that BMI is a very good indicator of health for the general public. Most people with BMI's of 30 or more aren't body builders or professional athletes. They are fat people who live sedentary lifestyles and are at higher risks for strokes and heart disease.

It's only crap for a small fraction of people and those people know well enough that it's not something that really applies to them.

To the general joe fatass that waddles into the doctors office the BMI chart is a very objective way of saying "Hey look, you weigh a lot for your size and you are at risk for problems".

Yet bodyfat measurements are a better indicator of problems than BMI. Even a simple caliper test is better at measuring a problem with bodyfat than BMI.

depends, I've worked with IT people who'd drink a 12 pack of Mt Dew a day which would be close to 2 of these and they're still going strong after years. I've drank about 2 liters of soda a day since I was a teen, I'm 33 now. By all accounts I should have type II already, I expect every physical I have to have the doc tell me I'm Diabetic lol. I've downgraded to drinking Diet Coke some times, but that has shit in it just as bad for you as Sugar, if not worse.
