I like their pricematching...is Pricewatch considered "advertised in print"?

Best Value Guarantee
With the Best Value Guarantee, you'll pay the lowest price available on items purchased with the Card. If you see a covered item advertised in print for less than you paid within 60 days of the purchase date, we'll refund the difference to you, up to $250 per item.

Is there any down side? I don't particularly like credit cards, but if it'll let me buy stuff locally, but with a pricewatch price, I'll consider it..and I need a credit card to activate my PayPal debit card anyways. Any thoughts/opinions?

Are there any hidden charges anywhere, or is it totally free? I'd rather not wade through an ocean of fine print just yet

I tried applying but failed to qualify for it.

What are the criteria before you apply for the student version.

I'm under 18 now..should I bother applying, or just wait 2 months and apply when I'm 18?

you won't get it if your under 18, you have no credit history (trust me I've applied to a few ). I am going to apply in 3 weeks, when I turn 18, hopefully my household income is enough.

My parents have excellent credit...any way they could get it, and transfer it to me?

Household income won't be enough at 18 with no credit history. Trust me. It isn't enough at 20 with no credit history and $200k household income.

The most important thing is the credit history. You don't need a big income and you can be young -- you just need a good credit history.

I have no credit history, afaik...so I probably don't have a chance.

PayPal requires a credit card to have a PP debit card - can I use my parents', or does it have to be in my name? Anyone know?

I'm still in high school - they'll let me do that?

Does AMEX Blue for Students have the Pricematch feature?

I've heard only the regular AMEX blue does...

Amex Blue for students sucks ass. It doesn't have Blue best value guarantee. Anyways, the card totally rocks! Was approved for it the day I turned 20.

I don't really want a credit card, the only reason I thought about this is the pricematching.

I seriously doubt you have a chance at a regular blue card at 16.

At 20 with nearly $200k of household income per year, they still refuse me (got my refusal yesterday).
Again, not enough credit history (despite me having had some other cards for a while).

If you've gotten a car loan or college loans or whatnot, you're probably a lot better off.

My parents though, they get instant online approval for $50k of credit. (they of course have the company lower it by about $47k, since they just got it to do occasional pricematches).

Well if that income was YOURS and not your parents maybe it would be different Hey don't complain too bad. I couldn't even get approved for a SECURED capital one card a few months ago even though I make well above average salary. Damn lack of credit history!

Well..my parents are going to put me as an authorized user on their credit card, so I can use that for the required credit card for PayPal's debit card...no pricematching, but I'll be able to buy from newegg with my paypal account

That's the best way to go. Just remember that even though you have an Amex Blue card with your name and a 16 digit a/c imprinted on it does NOT mean you are helping build your credit history by using that credit card and making payments. Even if you made all the charges, paid all the payments, it would not show on your own personal credit report unless you were an applicant ... you're authorized to use the cc but it won't help your credit history.

Just so you know.

Uhm, about 60% of the household income is my salary.

How could you not get approved for a SECURED card? I mean, they hold all that money -- it's a sure thing for them.
I always could have gotten a secured card, but I'm stubborn and refused to do that. The concept of it is insulting to me.
I just heldout until my own bank (the one that can see the size of my savings account) decided to give me one. Credit history wise, it probably would have been better to start earlier with a secured though.
