you can pick up one of amex's better cards and recieve the same benefits though

Today my husband rec'd an invitation for the card from Amex and they STILL mention the BVG. I'm tempted to call them and ask why they haven't updated the info they send out.

the platinum optima still has bvg, the APR is lower too

If you read the fine print, it tells you to call BVG directly to confirm coverage.

optima is cancelling the bvg as well.. u need amex business gold card
