AMEX: Offers for you

If you have an AmEx card and an online account, check out their offers for you tab in your account. They have a few offers for statement credit. They had send me an e-mail for $25 off $75 at Amazon. I also found $10 off $110 at Costco and $5 for ToysRUs. You have click on the offer to activate it.

AMEX is really targeting giving people stuff back (we handle the backbone that does this). They have some really nice offers with their "My Offers" program.

Some merchants don't take the card, but it doesn't hurt to have one in your credit freebie and points cards.

I had the Amazon one, TigerDirect (so between a sale, the offer, and selling my old monitor, I got a $220 monitor for $110), and a few others. They constantly change and add them too, so you should probably check every few days or once a week.

Just be sure to save the offers you may want to use. I've already saved ~$70 on things I was going to buy anyway.

Amex also offered Shoprunner for free. Now I can free 2 day shipping on stuff from Newegg. (Don't care about any other merchant really)

Haven't logged into my AMEX account in years. Still have my new card with the activation sticker on it. LOL. Didn't see any good deals, but did see I have a rewards points balance that I can link to my Amazon account, which ended up being worth a little over $13! Thanks OP!

i run >$50k a year over my amex... and my offers are all thppttt... so it ain't how much u use it (but i pay off may balance each month, so they only only 1/2 love me...)...

You're better off getting gift cards, it's 1% back (assuming 1 point per dollar). The points to Amazon conversion is worse.

I'm guessing that you have a good chance of a specific offer if you don't have a record of purchases at that retailer (with AmEx). Retailers generally want to attract new customers more than reward existing ones. I buy at Amazon and TigerDirect a lot but didn't get those offers.

You get better offers if you don't use your card. I have two different Amex cards and the one I don't use has all the good offers. The card I use all the time barely has any offers.

The amazon offer was for a limited time. Many of the ones on their currently expire at the end of the year. Few of the other at the end of Jan.

I think the Amazon one was their attempt to get you to put your card on Amazon so you might use it in the future. I use my AmEx on there to buy electronics for the extra year of warranty.

The only Costco AMEX I am familiar with is loaded with like cashback on everything. I don't think they can add more to that card
