How much is the Samsung 7nm EUV process expected to provide in terms of gains?
How will the RTX components be scaled/developed?
Any major architectural enhancements expected?
Will VRAM be bumped to 16/12/12 for the top three?
Will there be further fragmentation in the lineup? (Keeping turing at cheaper prices, while offering 'beefed up RTX' options at the top?)
Will the top card be capable of >4K60, at least 90?
Would Nvidia ever consider an HBM implementation in the gaming lineup?
Will Nvidia introduce new proprietary technologies again?

Sorry if imprudent/uncalled for, just interested in the forum member's thoughts.

I wanted better performance/W mainly because I am interested in mobile and not desktop versions.
Performance/W ratio didn't increase much If we consider that a 220W 8GB RTX 3070 has a similar or a bit better performance than a 250W 11GB RTX2080Ti.
That looks like it is true. The two main KPIs are perf/w and perf/price. I would be interested to see how it scales down to mobile too.

But it doesn't change the fact that having a GPU dump 350-400W of power into your case can cause significant cooling issues for a lot of people.

The strangest thing is the pre-heating of the cpu, vrms, and I guess memory that comes with the cooler. Last I checked very view people complain about the above mentioned components running too cold.

I guess we'll have to see it in action. It would be strange to only see open box test bench testing.

Well it just clicked in my head, I'm buying the 3090. I recently sold my Valve Index for slightly more than what i bought it for, so really this GPU is only costing me $400... No one question my logic please

BTW are there any specs on the PCB width of the 3090? My case isn't the widest and there isn't a ton of space between the glass and water block with my current non-gigantic GPU

Do you have a mid or full size tower? Mid might be tight. Full I think you would be fine. I don't want to buy a new case, it won't fit under my desk anymore. I'm also looking for the dimensions.

Some of the early comments from that video through the full run of those game benchmarks
Gen Vs Gen 3080 vs 2080 =
80% uplift at 4k in Borderlands demo.
69.8% on Shadow of the Tomb Raider
68%5 on BF5
77.6% on Control
+80% Doom Eternal
92% Quake 2
Pretty sure some people here said 35% and insisted on it! Where are they now?

Not to up to date in the GPU world , is DLSS is a cheat in regards to the claims of 4K 120hz for example i.e upscaling is not really the same as running Native resolution ? does turning OFF DLSS is the way to go when you compare AMD vs Nvidia GPU`s ? there is no WAY AMD can match Nvidia if they are allowed to use upscaling (and maybe even without it).

Well from that early look video a page back - the 3080 is looking 70% faster than the 2080 without even turning any RTX features on. We'll have to see what AMD bring with a counter to DLSS and AI.

For your information, I specifcally said that no way it will be only 35%. I said that 3090 will be 40-45% faster than RTX 2080 Ti.

It appears that it actually is 53-55% faster, So I was not that far from it.

So hold your horses, would you?

Oookay... The actual rasterisation performance boost is much higher than I though.
Although not the double from 2080 to 3080 that Jensen said in the presentation. He should have said, double the performance in 2 or 3 titles. On average it seems to fluctuate between 65% and 80%.

That is still VERY impressive, please don't misunderstand me

Really impressive! I see a 3080 or even a 3090 in my future. I'm not preordering only because I don't expect to have a build any sooner than February or March. If the figures weren't marketing, then I'm definitely going forward unless AMD can match or beat it at a slighter cheaper price, provided their drivers aren't potato tier.

I think it tells us what NVidia is expecting AMD to have. Competition at the 3070 and 3080 level, but nothing that could comfortably slot in at $1,000.

Now NVidia could be wrong, but they'll look really stupid if there is a good card that fits in that gap.

I still want to see benchmarks before passing final judgment though. NVidia was always going to show the card in the best light possible, and it's clear that's a lighting powered by ray tracing.

Yes. Unless JHH lied about the performance of RTX3000 cards, then pricing them sky high as most thought they would be, including myself, would be a silly move. Either he lied and the cards are terrible, or Samsung rolled over and priced the wafers dead cheap (like a few thousand per wafer) to subsidize the cost of each card, or they expect AMD to throw something very close or equally as good.

NVidia will know far more than an industry expert of what AMD has in store. That's how it works.

Nvidia's own words are that the 3090 is "up to" 50% faster than a Titan RTX at UHD. So, yeah. Marketing and "up to" then is probably around 40% in reality.
Titan RTX is 10%~15% faster than 2080Ti, in practice this puts 3090 @ 65% faster than 2080Ti. More with RT features.
