MM, just to clarify something, what I said really isn't trying to get rid of you. I've said that(if you're not having fun, leave) since day 1, and had to sit by in pain when we lost some people.

It appears that running away from problems is the trend du jour. So be it. <sigh>

Oh, one note for future reference. If you are going to label someone as a 'leader', and expect them to act in that capacity, it is probably a good idea to ask them if they want that responsibility first, before foisting it upon them. Otherwise, who knows what will happen; they could start issuing ultimatums or something.

It is evident that I no longer (if I ever did) have the qualities to 'lead' a project's team. It is probably in the best interest of the ECCp team, therefore, to search its ranks for the appropriate person to take that responsibility. I wish that person well.

I had made up my mind not to respond in this thread, but looks like i can no longer keep my mouth shut, an ever increasing problem.

I participate in both projects, as many of us do, and with my recent additions at work, have been able to increase my production in seti a great deal, so I had planned to wean my home systems (all but the p4) off seti and onto eccp, so that I could do more good to both projects. I know I have enough computing power at my disposal to help more than just 2 projects, but I do have one or two other things to do with my time, so I've decided on these two. Whether they're the most worthy, least worthy, or whatever, they're the ones I've decided to put my time and effort into supporting. To be honest, I really don't care whether anybody likes it or not, I crunched seti long before I got to TA, and likely will continue as long as they continue the project.

MM, I hardly ever post, but read your updates daily. I appreciate them, as I appreciate the time it takes to make them, and the time and effort it takes you to produce the dps you produce daily. That said, I understand you believed that drastic measures needed to be taken to increase our production on eccp, but don't believe you went about it the right way. I briefly considered pulling support for eccp, but then remembered why I got involved. It's always project first, team second. The instant anyone no longer believes that, they can stop. Cheaters make me sick for exactly the same reason. What's the point of stats if you're not helping the project?

Whether you stay with the team or not MM, continue to crunch the project, and I'll wish you all the best. Winning's better than losing, but in first, sixth, or hundred and twenty sixth place, everyone that crunches, helps. Listen to me, or don't. If any of you haven't figured it out yet, I don't care, one way or the other.

All this greater good talk has started to make me sick. I think one of the most worthwhile posts in this thread was BurntKooshie's "I like chocolate pudding." mmmm....pudding..... be back after lunch.

MereMortal,
Well this thread has got my attention. I tell you what. I have a P233 machine sitting here, doing nothing. It'll be a ECCp machine. And the next machine I get my hands on, it'll be a ECCp machine too.

If you are no longer having fun with your current DC team, choose another team.

If you are no longer having fun with DC, choose another hobby.

Chocolate or vanilla pudding work for me, but I think butterscotch beats 'em both.

poopaskoopa, the optimized windows client from Ken is meant to be added on top of a standard distribution from the main ECCp site. If you just use that optimized client alone you don't have a necessary file (eccp109.ini), and your results may not be submitted correctly. I have added a comment about this to the web page.

----------------

On a different topic, I will abide by public opinion. The public doesn't like ultimatums, well so be it. No ultimatums from me. My services are hereby not tied to the performance of any team member or the team as a whole. If at any time I can no longer provide my services to the team, I will terminate them quietly.

You needn't worry about my points either, they will stay. I promised last November to run a dualie for the remainder of the project. There are enough points in my account to cover that pledge through November 2003. I keep my promises.

I've said quite enough on this topic, and won't take up anymore of anyone's time. In fact, I think that I'll keep my thoughts to myself for a good long while.

Have a bowl of pudding on me.

Well, if you want to talk about favorites, ButterScotch and Bannana are my favorite.

The nice texture of pudding is like the texture of a Calvatia gigantea. Nummie....
