Yes and theres no reason for it.....

I have found a thread with NO REPLIES once (on another VBB site I am on) but was posted in 1999!! (The link was still valid AND QUITE USEFUL so I replied)

Nothing wrong with dates!

If it really becomes an issue for you, just go through every thread you've made and delete everything you've written. Unless someone quoted you, then you're screwed.

Really bad idea. See ViRGE's post following this one. We have done exactly what he said in the past, and having to restore posts makes us even crankier than usual.

Until the mods find out, restore your posts, and then ban you.

Allowing a user to delete their own thread if nobody has posted in it should be allowed. We see quite a few "mods please delete" threads floating about. It generally happens because you ask for help and then 2 minutes later fix your problem and think "ffs I've just made a thread now".

example - http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2457226

People like that shouldn't be allowed to post on the internet. If they find a solution to a technical problem they should post it for posterity's sake. Those folks tick me off because they don't know how to forum. They constantly take and never give back which isn't healthy for the forum.

Yes, I can show you on the doll where the bad forum member touched me

I agree in principle, but when you post a thread asking why your printer doesn't work and then you realise it's not plugged in you don't want a thread there reminding you of your stupidity

These threads get changed to "nevermind" or "mods delete" so they end up serving no purpose if left to remain anyway.

Are you suggesting that the ability to abuse a feature and create havoc should be left to the posters' discretion? In cases where a poster realizes they didn't need to make the thread and there have been no replies, it's a click or two for the mods to remove it. If a poster wants the thread removed, and there are a lot of posts where members have contributed, we generally just lock those threads.
