I love this board!

Click!

hehe, this is the board Macaw thinks he bought!!

"Stability has always been a hallmark of ASUS products, and the P4T was no exception as it was one of the most stable motherboards we have ever tested. With four 1200uF capacitors and seventeen 1500uF capacitors located around the RIMM slots, 82850 MCH, and the CPU socket, combined with the unique board design, the P4T refused to crash once after 48 hours of stress testing. Even under our overclocking tests, the board would not crash."

Not to start a flame, but VIA boards are the reason that Anand is going to have to invent a harder stress test...

LOL. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Ace Reporter showed up.

I really like how Asus made it so that the board can be used in a standard ATX case. And also how they released it without onboard sound from the start. These are examples why Asus are my favorite motherboards.

Statement: "Not to start a flame"

Translation: "I got my flamethrower, and it's bigger than yours!"

*sratches his head in diselief*

Am I reading this right? Are people actually comparing Via's chipsets to Intel's? Hahahaha what a joke...I'm sorry...I really am, I use an AMD cpu and a half via chispet, and have thoughts about the KT266, and I respect where Via has gotten especially in the last year...but they make no where near the chipset Intel does.

Two letters: B and X. Show me a Via chispet that can compare.

The i820 was a bit of a bungle, but the i815 and i850 are fantastic chipsets as well.

The stabiltiy and compatibility of Intel chipsets is unmatched, especially by Via.

How many people complain about Via USB, or my sound card doesn't work with my Via chipset, or whatever....I'm sorry guys but there is no comparison.

I'm strongly considering going back to Intel just becuase they make such fantastic chipsets. The AMD760 is also very good, but AMD won't produce it (lets not go there though....), but there is no way Via can come close to Intel...

Wonder how long it will be before I'm labelled an Intel zealot...that would be very amusing since I haven't used an Intel CPU since my P200MMX...

Edit: Sorry that came out a bit more rantish than I intended it to...but really...with the number of complaints about Via chipsets on this board alone...I don't know how you can compare it to Intel...

I agree Intel is ahead for designing chipsets, too bad they don't make one for AMD...

BTW, I heard the Asus P4T performed so well, Dell as started to sell them in their P4 systems.

God, the bad experiences I had with the Via Apollo MVP3 will still give me nightmares and I still shun the Via/Tbird setup due to those bad experiences. With all due respect Fkloster and not to crap in your post but to ask a question, Does anybody know what kind of timeframe we are looking at before we see an P4 ddr board from Intel or a dual processor P4 with ddr board hits the streets ?. I really want to go the P4 route for the sse2 increase in Photoshop but the current cost of 768 megs of Rambus is scar'ing me away right now

I find the Tbird cpus very attractive, but my experiences with Via chipsets negate that. I agree that the Intel chipsets (BX, 815, and 850) are excellent, but the higher cost of Intel cpus leaves me cold.

As of now, there is no cpu/chipset combination that urges me to upgrade my PIII coppermine/BX systems.

<< actually, Rambus costs are equal to that of DDR now, and are soon to fall even further >>

Rambus PC800 128MB * 2 (must be run in pairs) = $79 * 2 = $158
Crucial DDR SDRAM PC2100 256MB = $85

For sh!ts and giggles, 256MB PC800 RDRAM is $189 each

you really shouldn't even compare pc2100 to pc800 since pc800 only provides the bandwidth of pc1600.

wait... nevermind they're the same price.

Could you please elaborate how double pumped (DDR) PC-100 has the same bandwidth as PC-800? Under which platform do you see identical bandwidth of DDR PC-100 and rimms @ PC-800?.

ElFenix is right, both PC800 RDRAM and PC1600 have a peak bandwidth of 1.6 GB/second. That's for each RDRAM channel I think... So i840 and i850 both have 3.2 GB/s.

from Anandtech:

<< Since the current RDRAM implementation features a 16-bit (2-bytes) wide Rambus channel, we get a theoretical peak transfer rate of 800MHz x 2-bytes or 1600MB/s (1.6GB/s). >>

PC1600 or PC2100 is 64bit (or 8 bytes) so 8x200=1600 or 8x266=2100

Jack Burton, have you passed YOUR math?
