Anand Retires!!

DAYAMMMM!!! I understand where and why, and he's right to take advantage of his skills and his years of experience. :thumbsup:

I've known Anand for almost all of the 17+ years he's been running the site. I posted on his early forums, and I occasionally wrote him to comment on his early articles... and sometimes, he replied.

Anand once told me AT Forums is the largest English language computer oriented froums on the planet. As the first AT Mod, I'm really proud of the forums we've been allowed to run in his name, and the Mod and Admin crew we've maintained to ride heard over the show.

And we must be doing something right because we've kept them running, we've kept them reasonably safe and clean, and our member spirit and participation is simply outstanding. :thumbsup:

Personally, these forums have given me some opportunities to be involved in some extraordinary adventures bigger than I could ever have imagined and to do some serious good for people along the way.

Holy crap, is all I can say. I was expecting The Boss to eventually retire or tackle something else, but I was wondering why he wouldn't stay on as say an editor emeritus or something like that, with occasional contributions. However, now we know why - he's off to Apple.

And to think, many, many years ago Anand had contacted me to contribute to AnandTech on Apple stuff. It was really flattering, especially considering I'm not a tech guy by training, but unfortunately I couldn't devote the time to this. It would most definitely have been quite interesting though.

I'm curious to find out what Anand's role at Apple will be.

This web page taught me the trade skills I needed to overcome a family stuck in extreme poverty; the forum allowed me to overcome my dyslexia and learn to communicate; and this community has helped guide me numerous times, including one professor here who suggested I go to the school I'm at now for my doctorate: it was the right move, i'm just about to defend my dissertation and take a tenure track position.

So thank you... But I would be remiss if I didn't ask just one more thing from you...

i remember anand was a high school kid in the heydays of the desktop pc, now he looks like bin ladens bald brother. his post was a little unsettling, out of the blue he decides to disappear, i hope he doesnt do something crazy like pull a robin williams. does he own the site 100%, youd think hed wanna stay involved just to look out for his financial interests. i hope hes not terminally ill, and this is just the lure of hookers and blow. i can sort of understand this, technology, esp desktop stuff, has sucked for a while now, ive pretty much lost all interest, and only come here for ot
