What did you think?

I personally wished to see some more benchmarks (I like that database one he uses). Comparing Morgan directly with Palomino was interesting too.

definitly piqued my interest. But no dual AMD action for me till the new MP chips come out at somthing faster than 1.2 Ghz...

Really looking forward to maybe a 1.4 or 1.6MP Ghz chip release before the end of the year...

I want a dual processor AMD solution and i think this board would fit nicely along with a couple 1.6 GHz chips. Should hold me for a year or so i think?

Although im thinking that my main workstation will probably end up being a 2.2 Ghz northwood P4 setup, but that is okay. The server can be dual AMD... so it all evens out effectivly

Why wait for a single processor when you can have duals right now? I can always wait for a single that will be faster than two older duals. I'm not sure I understand/agree with this last statement. Anyone else have any ideas? Is there a reason to hold out from the Tiger MP that I'm not seeing?

Look at the M$ Visual C++ test in the middle of the page 8: how the hell dual 1.2Ghz system manages to outperform dual 1Ghz system by over 2 times? It can't be right...

I'd wait for offerings from other vendors. The Tyan boards seem plagued with problems. Some people have reported having no problems with their boards but many of us have had issues. There are glaring BIOS problems that Tyan hasn't fixed in both the Thunder and the Tiger. (The temperature/voltage readings in the BIOS are wrong unless you hit a key to refresh them - the same bug keeps MBM and other utilities from reading the info properly, for starters.)

Many of us have had to go through multiple board swaps to find one that works mostly properly.

Gotta agree with that statement. If you are doing things that make use of a MP system, then fine. (database server, major 3D rendering, etc.) If you are not, you will see much more performance from a faster single processor system than the minor bump a 2CPU rig will give you on everyday, nonSMP tasks.

Actually, I woke up and saw the review around 7:00AM. I saw that it was posted at ~4:00AM. No one had posted yet so I assumed that you guys weren't interested...

Damien - I don't understand the question. The Tyan K7 Thunder has been out since the first week of June. The Tyan Tiger has been out since the end of August.

I think the key there is "if you're a regular user". Most 'regular users' wouldn't be doing much to take advantage of an MP setup. So you can take pride in that you're not a 'regular user'.

This review was still very interesting as well. Seems like a stable, well performing, and cheap dual solution.
