It's doubtful that anyone has better low-power 3d capability than AMD.

I don't think we really know this, especially since AMD hasn't done an SoC suitable for phones. We don't really know who hits the best perf/W, perf/mm^2, and so on at phone appropriate ranges and requirements. DX11.1 support for instance is still overkill for phones, IMO - it's a bunch of stuff that the software won't be able to utilize any time soon.

It's doubtful that anyone has better low-power 3d capability than AMD. Kepler should help Nvidia a bit but we know they are hard to deal with (too expensive unless desperate).

Considering the graphics performance from SoCs like the Qualcomm S800, I highly doubt AMD can do better at an equivalent TDP.

I realize it would be a pure speculation but since my interest in Bay Trail is big and I am fine with speculations... here it is- does anyone think a Bay Trail based tablet (running full blown Windows 8 OS) could come close in battery life to say Nexus 7?
I get confused by the TDP mumbo-jumbo and ddon't even know what it is for a Nexus 7 tablet.
I am quite happy with the battery life of my Nexus 7 but my biggest gripe with it is that it is not running a full blown OS. I tolerate that but if Bay Trail provides similar batery life I will surely make the switch.

Cheers.

http://www.marketwire.com/press-rel...-new-quad-core-processor-nyse-amd-1829405.htm

The AMD Elite Quad-Core A4-1350 accelerated processor is the second quad-core accelerated processing pnit (APU) in this category, with an estimated average power at or below 3 watts for many common use cases.
Read the bolded part as "Scenario Design Power"

System test results for the A6-1450 (with AMD Turbo Core disabled) are 1.1W for Wi-Fi web browsing, 1.6W for MobileMark 2012, 2.3W for 1080p video playback (H.264), 2.8W for streaming YouTube 1080p playback, and 3.0W for 3Dmark11 Performance
It also mentions 8W TDP in the table.

8W TDP is more than than Bay Trail-M (value notebooks) and almost like Bay Trail-D (value desktops). Do they pretend to fit this inside tablets?
Also, according to Z3770's Cinebench score it would lose to Bay Trail-T (2W SDP) in MT, lose badly in ST (no Turbo vs Bay Trail-T's 2.4GHz Turbo) and barely beat it GPU-wise (still inferior to Tegra 4/S800).

Soo any info on when actual devices with Bay-Trails will be reviewed, tested and put online to see?

Ok, just obtained the following directly from Intel.

There is no apple quad core (a6x) that is 4 cores and 4 threads.

The test on that slide in the fine print says they are simulated and do not use actual hardware.

They do not mention what tests are being used besides sysmark and mobile mark. Both sysmark and mobile mark are x86 and windows only, bapco which makes said software does make tablet mark which does work on win rt and arm.

All the tests say up to so without knowing the test we do not know what up to means.

Where is my Qualcomm snapdragon s600 or s800?

And the TDP of Bay Trail T is?

We'll see.

Windows cpu performance looks very good for sure, but I'll reserve final judgement until we see a bit of variety on the benchmark suite.
