this is the stupidest thing i have ever heard anyone on this forum say and i have been a member for 15 years
load speed? are you fucking serious? 100 per page works fine on 3g or dial up and you are citing load speed as the reason

While what you said is true, esquared, what JFC so tactlessly put it, the decision to restrict thread list length to 20 is misguided at best, darned condescending to those of us who've been around more than a month. It's almost as if "they" have determined members are now unable to determine for themselves how many threads/posts show because they're unable to comprehend that more posts/threads showing takes longer to load than a very short thread/post list.
It's as if our prior experience counts for nothing because "they" know better than the actual users, who are, I believe, a tad more tech savvy than most forum users. After all, this is a tech forum, is it not? It's not as if (the collective) we have no clue as to the ramifications of making that change.
Another point. For fast moving sub-forums, like P&N, the limited visibility of 20 threads or posts makes arguing/making a point rather difficult, as trying to locate a singular post amongst 197 posts, spread across 10 pages gets tedious, at best. And keeping up with threads onthat sub-forum's main page....at 20, threads will jump off and on the front page in moments, making it almost scihozphrenic in look and function.
I understand making the default 20 or whatever is chosen. But for those of us who actually utilize this forum, and are grateful for its existence, we'd honestly welcome the function of expanding the number of posts/threads that show well beyond the currently locked 20. The function exists, why not enable it?
The same rules follow here as they did in vB. You have an issue with moderation? Make an MD thread. Do not comment about mod edits in the thread.
