We've put the forums in a more attractive container to improve look and feel, and to get traffic back to the main site from the forums. You haven't lost any vertical or horizontal space we've managed to give you 10-30 more pixels in fact. You will also notice the side menu, this helps you see which buddies are online, your latest pms, and your favorites. You cannot turn it off, as the ads appear below it.

Thanks guys, I know its been alot of change this week. We're working very hard to make it as smooth as possible. We've probably nailed 10-12 bugs in fusetalk which is good for us, and we've changed somethings to anandtechs liking that we're sure our other users will like as well.

The blue surrounding the banners does not fit with the rest of the color scheme and it is too distracting. It breaks the flow from the Anandtech tabs to the body of the bage.

Also, I would still like to see the jump to: dropdown somewhere even with the sidebar menu.

Edit: But otherwise it's pretty awesome. I like it.

I'll be brutally honest.

It sucks.

I'm a subscriber still, and I've been dreading going back to the normal forums, and the reduced width of the message text. I can now see what people have been bitching about for the past year. It sucks. That side bar is pointless for me, I will never use it. I would MUCH rather have the drop-down navigation options at the top (and bottom), and have my PM notification back in the main body. I don't need to see an overview of my PMs, and I don't care about seeing my favourites listed, nor my buddy list. If i want those, there is the "My Forums" page for them.

I have to say, I always liked the layout of Anandtech forums, and Fusetalk, but after seeing what has changed in the past week, that view has hit rock bottom, and has started digging.

Still wish there were drop-down Navigation menus at the top and especially the bottom.

And is it just me, or does anyone else think the "Your Latest Messages" section of the My Forums page needs some more width for the thread titles?

Sadly I must agree with Confused. It just do not like it. The top just does not flow with the rest of the design.

The left nav bar is just annoying, and it really should be on the right.

I want to know why you will not move it to the right. If anything more people will see if when they go to scroll down the page.

Let me put it this way bub , most of the world reads left to right. Shifting all the text over to the right is annoying, distracting, and just plan backwards.

Finally it just plan looks bad. On my screen the top adds don't even stay in the blue area.

I really do not like it. Hell, I might as well have ads now (I'm still a subscriber) as there are giant gaps of wasted space.

Thanks for fixing the private message thing though. You could not click the persons name the pm came from before to see the pm history and now you can.

Jason, I like the menu at the left (better than just an advertisement IMO). My only wish would be that it was customizable through my profile. I personally don't want my Favorites there, but that's just me. I know you still have your hands full with the transition, but you should consider making this cutomizable, possible in the next upgrade.

Just my opinion.

From an advertiser's perspective, that is precisely why they want the ad on the left.

Agree, it sucks! It's irritating the crap out of me! Why isn't there an option to remove it? I liked the change in the forums, but this really LOOKS BAD and UGLY!!!

The new design looks fine to me. The large blue bar up there is a little much, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I like it a lot Jason. Since we had to have the ads on the side anyway it makes more use of that space. One thing I don't like is the blue though. Is there a way to make that match the selected color scheme? That'd be great. Thanks.

Better, but can you remove the unneccesary horizontal scroll bar on the bottom? The forums fit in the window but there is a bunch of extra space that isn't needed; looks like it's caused by the top AT tabs

I like it ALOT I would still think it would be cool if there was a forum selector on the bottem though.

Also when minimized is it possible shrink the top anandtech part because it causes a horizontal scroll.
