After about 5 hours of work on spring break I things look a LOT better on my gaming rig:

FT02 WRI
Asus 1366 board
i7 920 D0
Phanteks HSF
ATI 5850
Vertex 2 120 gb SSD
2x 1 TB Caviar Blacks in RAID 0

Next up, shorten some cables and sleeve them with MDPC-X

Very Nice - did you have the PSU customized for the SATA drive power?

Thanks. I did that myself. It is pretty simple.

Step 1: remove heat shrink/sleeving on cable already so you just have this left (it's a single wire I didn't have any old cables handy, so just imagine 5 wires)

Step 2: use a small screwdriver (a small flathead like jewelers or those silver ones in the blue and clear plastic case you see all the time) to pop off the back plastic cap

Step 3: push the wires out from the connector (they are self-splicing and it will just push right back out)
Step 4: plug the connector into the drive without the back cap on (picture is just before step 5 starts)

Step 5: get the wire with the amount of slack you want in it, then using a thicker flathead push the wire into the connector. As mentioned they are self-splicing so you just have to press them in. This does take a decent amount of force to do. First I like to use the flathead across the connector (so that the tip of the screwdriver is aligned with the connector in the same orientation) like so:

Then I rotate the screwdriver 90 degrees so it's perpendicular to the connector (does help to angle it slightly off a perfect 90 degree angle though). See picture:

Repeat step 5 for all 5 of the SATA wires
Step 6: replace the cap.
Step 7 (optional): move on to the next connector in the chain.

I have 7 hds running off one cable in my server that I did this way. I'll add some pics to the steps here in a bit. And of the server.

Thanks for the pictures.

How do you handle the end sata power connector in the chain as far as not having the end of the wires bare? Is there a different power connector/cap combo for that?

They do make end connectors, however I don't have them. I just use the same type of connection and leave the wire bare up top. It's flush with the end of the connector, and I will dab some glue (non conductive types only of course) on each wire tip if I'm worried about any kind of shorts. If you take a look closely at the 4th pic in the last post (new server backside), you can see the tips of a few of the wires.

Those SATA cables in your new server look upside down. All 90 degree ones that I have are made such that they would point down when plugged in, yours all point up. Where did you get those?

Is he using "left angle" SATA cables?

This is actually what they are (It's the cables from two of them):

I just removed the sleeving and will be doing it with MDPC stuff when it gets here. I'm torn about switching the cables to point down though. I would much prefer it, but need some fairly specific lengths to do it that way. Anybody know where I can buy them?

Here is mine after about an hour of cable management. Still isn't the best since some cables either aren't long enough from the psu or they won't fit in a hole i want them to fit in w/o removing the mobo. Two cables going off to the bottom right are hooked up to my fans on the side plate. Parts upon request.

^This one is my most current picture. I finally took my motherboard off routed the cables I needed to route. I also took off my secondary hard drive cage as it was pointless to keep. I really wish I had a modular psu.

There is a hole to the top left of the motherboard that it just barely won't fit through. Someday when I have a lot of time I think I'll take the motherboard off and route it through there.

After about 3-4 years of WCing, im back at Aircooling with a build i called Mini-B.

Im not gaming that much anymore and i decided to invest in something else than a computer, in futur, house and more !

So here it is ! My new small thing. Ill in the proces of finding a new GPU or two, maybe GTX670's

I alwais wanted to try an mATX build.

I first of put everything inside this new little case and had trouble with the TPQ-1200-OC. I have this PSU for ~2yrs now and it served me very well when i had SLI GTX580 and an I7 920, All WCed and OCed but now that i reduce the rig, its a bit overkill. But the main issue is with the powercache, the big thing on the cables that hold capacitors. They just dont fit very well behind the backpanel of this little case ...

The easyest was to leave them on the floor cause they dont fit behind, the back panel just wont close ...

Sell the TPQ-1200-OC or mod ? Mod it for sure
I removed 2 of the PCIe cables and the second CPU 8pin, this still leave me a second PCIe extension and the 2 modular that i can add ( Still 8 pcie connector total ... ). I can still solder them inside if needed.

Now with less cables on the TPQ-1200-OC, MUCH easyer to hide pretty much every cables.

I think its OK for now.
