wow...
I know being a geek isnt much of a life,
but I guess its kinda harsh for someone with mental problem.
I mean, I bet ppl were trying to be nice to him at first, but he drew them off, and after some time they grew tired and left him alone.
after that its just went downhill....

Right. Which one of these is not like the other?

Two dead in stabbing spree
October 14, 2004

The Associated Press

PHOENIX, AZ - Two people were killed and a third injured when a man stabbed his roommate, a woman next door and a man in another apartment, police said. After killing the roommate and woman, the man barged into a third apartment and stabbed a man before fleeing or falling out a window, said Phoenix police Detective Tony Morales. The attacker was caught by police, and no motive has been determined, Morales said.

SALISBURY BEACH -- A brawl that witnesses said started as a dispute over a girl ended in the stabbing deaths of two young Lawrence men early yesterday.

Dead are Adrian Santos, 16, of 510 Lowell St., and Socrates Moya, 22, of 65 Fern St., the victims of a melee that began at Club Ozone, an under-21 dance club, and spilled into the municipal parking lot in Salisbury Beach center. A third Lawrence resident, Carlos Vasquez, 19, of 69 Byron Ave., was also stabbed in the fight.

Frank Oquendo, 20, of Fitchburg was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and one count of assault with intent to murder, said state police spokesman Sgt. Edward Principe.

Palestinian who killed two Israelis in Gaza settlement shot dead
30/03/2002

By Amos Harel, Ha'aretz Correspondent

Two Israelis were stabbed and killed Friday morning by a Palestinian who infiltrated the Neztarim settlement in the Gaza Strip, and then managed to escape after first taking refuge in the settlement's synagogue.

The terrorist, who hid inside the settlement for over six hours, tried to attack one of the settlement's residents. The settler then shot and killed the infiltrator.

It's unfortunate that he was suffering from a mental condition, but by no means does it justify murdering two innocent lives. Good thing the gun misfired or he would have murdered even more.

You didn't read enough of that other forum. He hated his doctor and was skipping his meds.
Hehehe...

Everyone who commits murder is a cold blooded murderer. A thing is always equal to itself. You really should pay attention to your own logic. Motive is irrelevant. That the murderer is insane and/or has a mental condition is a given. No sane person would murder. There is no difference. Once the murderer takes innocent life, we as a civilization can no longer allow ourselves the luxury of compassion, lest we encourage more. And sorry, I see you as having the fear, as I feel none. I see that you as having the fear of "what if it was me?" "What if I slipped my clutches?" Good. Hold that thought and maybe you never will.

A side note about mental conditions... those are quite the fallacy in themselves. That someone has a mental condition that needs treatment assumes that there is such a condition known as normal. Kindly prove that exists, as I say it doesn't.

Your statement "Everyone who commits murder is a cold blooded murder" is obviously not true - otherwise we would not need the modifier "cold blooded" in the sentatance. The fact that it needs to be said at all belies that your statement is false - simple grammar tripped you up. Moreover, "Cold blooded", as in murder, is defined by MerriamWebster as
" 1 a : done or acting without consideration, compunction, or clemency <cold-blooded murder> b : MATTER-OF-FACT, EMOTIONLESS <a cold-blooded assessment>". The one thing that a mentally unstable person is NOT is emotionless - in fact emotions are what is driving him/her to commit the act. It is the exact opposite of "cold blooded" - it is a hot-blooded rage. Examples of cold blooded killers are drug dealers who can walk up to the competition on the street corner, blow them away, and turn around and walk slowly away without even getting their heartrate up. Since most murderers DO indeed get emotional about their crimes, we can safely return to your opening sentance and see it for what it is - a misnomer at best.

I don't worry much about my own mental workings - I've been through enough to know that there is little I can't take. That's one of the chief advantages of advancing years...having an experience base to draw upon, and knowing yourself. I'm still here, so Q.E.D...

And Vic, when did you recieve your Phd in Psychology? I didn't know you were educated enough to contradict 98% of the medical world and declare that their is no normal mental condition. That's in Psych 101 at the college level...they define it, talk about it's statistical significance (the well-known Normal Curve), and how it is measured in populations. Frankly, as you have no education in the field, or basis for your assertion, I have nothing to respond to. Saying that there is no such thing as a normal mental state only sounds good in a Woody Allen movie - but that's a MOVIE Vic, not real science...

This is so sad. When despair reaches these levels I do not think we can judge. I think we just hope that it never happens to us.

It is actually possible to have compassion for this guy (Will), and at the same time, condemn his actions in taking the life of two others. this is not a black and white world, your responses don't have to be black and white

you think people were trying to be nice to him "at first"?

what on earth would give you that impression?

if the responses he received from people IRL were in any way similar to the responses he received on-line, then he mostly experienced rejection, ridicule & abuse from his peers.

What I see in those posts is someone who doesn't 'get' the atot sub-culture, his posts screamed "noob". The responses he received make me feel a bit sick. People were nasty to him. You certainly don't see any great AT "community" step in to help him out. People with Asperger's are sort of destined to a lifetime of "noob-ness" when it comes to social interactions, they must pay the price for that I guess in rejection and ridicule.

When I first started visiting these forums in 2000 I found that it was a friendly place to get advice about anything computer related. It seems to me that the friendly people who had actually wanted to help other users are not here anymore.

Wow. This really leaves me speechless. And hits close to home. I have an equally disturbed 19 year old cousin strugging with Aspergers.

That and his posts are errily similar to mine. They are all of the same inquisitive nature.

I myself have been diagnosed with mild Aspergers syndrom. I've been very very lucky to outgrown it a lot as I have grown older but I still know what it is like. And have a lot of family members and friends with it.

The world of one with Aspergers is much different from the one you know. Smart but feeling dumb is how I once heard it described. It's like seeing and knowing everything but having the complete inability to communicate it to others. It's like you know what you want to say but there is a sock stuffed in your mouth preventing you from letting it out. Everything just stays bottled up inside and you really have no way to let it out.

As a child that is what it was like. And I had a really mild case compared to others. I'm lucky to be very charasmatic and outgoing - To be shy and suffer from this condition would be so crippling.

As well as I am doing today I still simply cannot look someone in the eyes. I mean think about that for a moment. When you think of an intimate situation with someone eye contact is one of the biggest things you notice. And I, with a really mild case of this, cannot handle looking someone in the eyes. I always wear sunglasses in public just so I do not have to make eye contact. I've had girlfriends and, like all those with Aspergers, crave intimacy as much as anyone, but it is a great hurdle to make others understand how you can be so aloof but still love them so. You have to be really really comfortable with yourself to accept that and be able to explain it to someone else. 90% of people with this cannot do that and can not really expect to be in a relationship.

If I have a cause, and I like to think that I do, it is to help people with this condition. Really people think being gay is difficult imagine what it is like to have this. At least gay people can discuss it. Put a bunch of Aspergers folks in a room together and they would not be able to relate to eachother. It's a lonely existance.

It's very unusual for folks with this disorder to act out violently like that. You can tell this guy was trying hard to fit and and find a place for himself. And those posts are so recent.

It makes me so angry that he would hurt others, but knowing what it is like having Aspergers I cannot put all the blame on him. Kids like this really need people to reach out to them and it just does not happen. And there is no reason it cannot.

I hope these deaths are not in vain and that is sheds some light on what it is like to be autistic.

Aspergers folks are easy to spot. I'm stereotying here, but in my experience 90% of the folks with Aspergers fit this description. And I know a lot.

They are almost always very good looking and from well to do families. Usually have very poor coordination and poor spatial awareness. One of those people that should be really popular and outgoing but something just isn't quite right and they end up really quiet. Think hard and I bet you will find a few. You might even be friends with someone with Aspergers. Most folks with mild Aspergers do not even know they have Aspergers.

Argh rereading those posts just breaks my heart. This guy wanted to make it so bad. I hope you all take this opportunity to do a little research on Aspergers and learn to spot these people and help them out. Obviously you cannot do that over the internet but with 1/250 people afflicated wtih this disorder you have and will know many more. Let's not let this happen again.
