I'm on ios7, is there a "show me desktop version" button? I don't see it.

I can't stand mobile sites on my phone!

If ios7 has it, tap URL bar, when the page with the short cuts pops up, pull down and see if the request desktop option shows up.

I don't think iOS 7 safari implemented the show desktop option like in ios8. Try using chrome which should have the option

Holy mother of God go back to no mobile site. The mobile version is horrific.

Is this the end of anandtech forums?

This is what happens when companies make decisions in a vacuume. Didn't anybody think to pilot this first?

Can't follow quotes. There is no link to the quoted post. Another functionality loss.

After using it for sometime I've decided the mobile version suck. No avatars, can't see posters information, bland looking screen, PDFs don't shrink easily once expanded did I mention the forums look bland and boring?
Please kill this pilot.

Works well. Don't really mind the aesthetics as long as I can read the content. Good job guys (and nice to know there's a vBulletin skin that does this now).

Thanks all for the valuable feedback.

It would be nice if there was a link to load the desktop version.

Based on your input so far, we're going to work on giving you an option beyond your phone's "Request Desktop site" to see the full site version regularly.

I just tried on iPad and it forces the mobile version here as well, but really...there's no need for that on iPad

That shouldn't be too tough a change to make.

Well I can now confirm those buttons also crash Chrome & Dolphin as well.

Which buttons are you referring to that trigger a crash for you?

Is this the end of anandtech forums?

It is. Our diabolical plans involve investing considerable time improving user experience and fulfilling requests provided in suggestion threads. Part of our scheme centers around dragging portions of the antiquated forum software kicking and screaming forward into the early 2011 era in terms of software updates in hopes of lulling the masses into a contented stupor. It's a clever ruse, and all coming together rather... nicely.

Can't follow quotes. There is no link to the quoted post.

Are quotes not appearing correctly for you? Quoted text itself, or just the absence of the link? We can look into this for sure.

Is it even possible to create a new thread/topic in the mobile version?

You should see the option to create a New Thread if you are logged in.

Appreciate all the feedback - keep it coming!

There are a few third party browsers that let you change your user agent. Tricks the website into think into thinking you're using a desktop browser, so all sites will load the desktop version. Mercury is one of them. Helps a lot on the iPad as some mobile versions are just horrendous.

I've noticed some sites, for instance, use a m.anandtech type address for mobile and the regular url for the desktop version. I like that because I can bookmark the non-M version and the regular site comes up without me having to use my mobile browsers "view desktop" option each time.

I prefer this to sites that do it by cookies and usually add a "view desktop version" at the bottom of the page.

Either way would be fine and I really hope you implement something like the above ASAP

The graphic link is absent (looks like a right-facing arrow or greater-than sign). I'd prefer a return to the nested quotes we used to have with FuseTalk but without that I at least need the link we have in the desktop version (especially on mobile devices).

Hey there all,

Those on iPad should now be seeing the forum in standard mode, rather than the smaller version. You should also now be able to set your preferred style if you are registered and logged in on your mobile device. Hopefully this addresses some of the issues for a few of you who have had problems with trying to view the forum regular sized.

Using and iPhone 5s with IOS 8.3 and the desktop version of AT forums the image, hyperlink, and list buttons all crash Safari, Chrome, and Dolphin.

After I figured out how to request the desktop version I tried to post a picture and promptly crashed the browser

My first thought was it was something to do with the mobile forums change because I've never had that problem before. I had upgraded to 8.3 about 18 hours before you pushed the forum update.

So bad timing for me since both the forums and my operating system changed about the same time.

However I have access to another iPhone 5s with iOS 8.2.

I just tried to use the IMG button on Safari with iOS 8.2 and there was no browser crash.

So if someone else with iOS 8.3 could confirm a crash when using a button that tries to pop up an input window, we may need another thread for this problem.

hmm: I thought I already confirmed this for you.)

The image
and URL
buttons crash Safari on my iPad mini 2 (retina) and iPhone 6 Plus -- both running iOS 8.3

I never even see the input box appear. It crashes right when I tap the button.

I noticed this crash before the mobile site appeared, but some time had passed after updating to 8.3 -- so I can't really be sure if 8.3 did it. I can't say for sure if I had used those buttons successfully after updating to 8.3, before I noticed the crashing. My hunch is that 8.3 caused it though.

You know what. You're right, you did.

Since it's my 5s and your iPad mini and iPhone 6 with 8.3 that crash, while my other 5s with 8.2 doesn't. I think that's definitive.

Probably need to file a bug report with Apple. I've never done that before.
