Reading through some of the ratings I noticed a lot of one line posts. How is anyone supposed to get a feel for the company when the only comment is "Terrible customer service." This thing won't be effective without hearing your story as to why they have terrible customer service. People need to be alot more telling in their opinions of these companies.

Thanks to Anandtech for giving us an alternative to resellerratings.

Great Idea! I trust my fellow ATers far more than a bunch of anonymous internet humps... At least here you can be a little more sure that it really was the seller's fault & not just someone who had no idea what they were trying to order....

shouldnt have to rate in all fields.

I cant rate the shipping and packaging if I never got it!!

****the form makes you fill all those fields. ******

Plus it looks like I am the only person with something bad to say on the ratings!

****there is a character limit, but it doesnt tell you that when you are posting! *******

****also it looks like it makes whatever url you list, as the actual link, i can see abuse there - like people putting referals etc in the url*****

Great idea...good start. It would be nice if there was a simple way to get to listings of top resellers....right now you have to click through the "advanced filter".

But why was the other thread regarding the reopening of www.resellerratings.com locked? I thought competition would be great for all. Isn't that philosophy reflected in all the hot deals found in this forum? Seems somewhat arbitrary otherwise....

You have to click on the link that says "see more comments" right under. Then it will show the complete comments. By default it will only display the one-line summary that everyone is required to put in for their review.

I second Ranger X's comments. I rated 17th Street Photo. They should appear at the beginning, in the 0-9 listing. There are many other vendors that begin with a number!

<< Please select a Vendor to rate, if the vendor does not exist choose Other. >>

<< I was jsut about to post the same thing. Alphabetically would be realyl helpful.

But then I looked and www.resellerratings.com is working again. Hmmm

As a previous poster said, I value AT'ers comments more so than relative unknowns. Don't get me wrong, the other rating service is nice to see and read. It's just that if, for example, Rally1, Zwingle, Mrbentley, KwadGuy, etc. slam a company, I'm more apt to take notice and not dismiss it out of hand (rightly or wrongly).

So, regardless of the status of resellerratings.com, I think the AT thing should be supported.

I hear you there. Lots of reviews like: "Duhhh...I got new sound card from dem, and me try to put it in AGP slot. WHOLE COMPUTER BLEW UP. They stink."

This is great! I hate resellerratings.com. For one, they allow anyone to post. At least here it is controlled. When browsing companies, I also noticed the same post always putting down companies but then always praising Newegg. The strange part is many times it was the same posters.

This is going to be a very valuable tool for all of us. It should also help grow the Anandtech board.

Thanks Anand

I remember a time when Anandtech used to write their own content. Now they get us to do it for free.:disgust:

How's about a few more up-to-date tech articles on the home page? What we get now is the "featured article" which is a randomly generated archive header from better times.

Am I banned?

<< I thnk there's a bug. If you click Search without entering anything, it will show you everythign in the database. There's currently 4 vendors listed but the thing at the top still says only 1 vendor.

if you know about database, you'll know what's going on.
basically, what they are doing is using store name as a filter.
so if you enter nothing, nothing is filtered.
if you enter "am", it should return "amazon" and whatever stores with "am" in it.

one feature would be nice.
someone should put the best/most rated/worst companies somewhere on the page always.
