ok..is the database supposed to be blank? it says there is only 1 vendor?

I thnk there's a bug. If you click Search without entering anything, it will show you everythign in the database. There's currently 4 vendors listed but the thing at the top still says only 1 vendor.

The amount of vendors is cached, so its not a bug. It refreshes every 15-30 mins. Yes the database is supposed to be blank, as you guys are supposed to fill it with content Thats what subjective ratings are all about.

This is really great. I relied heavily on that other reseller rating site that died, even though it hadn't been maintained for a good time. There is a real need for this kind of service to protect us consumers from dishonest or inept vendors, and to help reward the companies that care about the customer. Keep up the good work.

How about uploading the resellerratings database to the site and adding to it? That would be the single most important thing I can think of that
Anandtech could do for the online consumer. You could start a link system from people's websites as Resellerratings did. Here is the link to the database:

Ask Sysopt for permission. I don't see why they wouldn't give it to you.

I tried rating a vendor not listed, by clicking on "other," but then the vendor was still not listed when I got to the next screen. Am I misunderstanding?

I think Zuni said that it refreshed every 15-30 minutes.

On another note, can AT be impartial? I assume that because of advertising dollars, there may be a certain reluctance to display negative ratings of "preferred" vendors let's say.

Since this is user-driven, AT itself is largely out of the picture. Those who pay to advertise will still have their place, regardless of what nastiness is aired about them in the ratings. If they're putting a shoddy product/service out there, I don't see how the advertising dollar can counteract the potential damage to the consumers.

GooberedUp - Good point, and also, that is certainly a factor when there are hardware reviews are on the same sites that accept those same companies advertising dollars. That's the beauty of a organization like Consumers Union (Consumers Reports), that does not accept advertising, because as soon as you do, you CANNOT be impartial. However, changing or eliminating someone else's review is an entirely different matter, and something that the owners of this site would not be party to.
