We are back up to a 28K difference behind BBR but they are going to have another big flush tomorrow @ 8 CST..

While we can't MAKE you guys run DC (hehe..give me your ip and remote control ) we are asking to put those spare cycles for not only the good of science.....but the good of the TeAM!!(well, ill be honest..right now its for the good of the team mainly )

Thanks for all the help guys, we are maintaining right now but we have a smaller lead than we did when this thread started. We have lost 6th place and regained it, any help is really appreciated. Besides which DC is fun.

I don't know if there is some correlation but right after I put SETI on my 2 home PCs, they both died. My main rig started stuttering and would lock up 10 seconds at a time. I know SETI is on low priority so that wasn't an issue. When I tried to do a clean install from CD, it would still stutter. Then I compounded the problem by destroying 512MB of RAM by taking the PC apart. My secondary rig just beeps and doesn't turn on or go into the bios screen.

Now I am PCless at home.

Bummer ,but I can asure you its nothing to do with SETI itself.

Hows the cooling on the CPUs? ,if their clogged with dust or the fans have failed then these problems would quickly show up with any CPU intensive program (SETI being 1 of many)

What beeps are you getting?

Cooling is fine. I have a bunch of Panaflos in both the PCs.

The beep I get in the second PC is one long beep and then a bunch of short ones with no video at all. I haven't had time to check but I'm going to swap video cards to see if that is the problem. Unfortunately the PCs are 4 floors from each other.

I'll probably end up buying a new main rig and make a FrankenPC for the secondary with any salvageable parts from the 2.

I really didn't want to buy a PC but I guess I can write it off for taxes if I do it this year.

How does an Athlon 64 3200 sound? or should I get a p4 3.2Ghz with HT?

If its 1 long beep followed by 3 short ones then (if I recall rightly) that means Video ram failure.

Hmm ,not sure! ,with either option I would check their upgradeabilty in the long run.
Probably best ask that in the CPU section or maybe GH ,unless of course you are asking in relation to SETI in that case ask at the DC section too ,we have a few members who have Athlon 64s & high end P4 HTs
